Spa Town Ustroń: Mountain Trails, Wildlife and Culture
Accommodation in Spa Town Ustroń
If you’re looking for a hotel in Spa Town Ustroń, your plans for your days there can make all the difference: cable cars and hiking trails, wildlife attractions or cultural sites each offer a different focus. The destinations also vary in what they offer—from a trail to a summit to flight demonstrations, exhibitions and historic buildings.
Cable cars and hiking trails
The Czantoria cable car is a detachable lift with four-seat chairs and a length of 1,640 metres. From the upper station, an easy forest trail leads to the summit observation tower in about 30 minutes. Parking is available near the cable car, along with bus and rail connections.
The summit of Palenica can be reached via a blue hiking trail or by the Palenica cable car. From there, a green hiking trail leads towards Orłowa, Brenna and Madziówka. When planning your trips, you can decide whether the summit is your destination or the starting point for a longer route.
The cycling facilities are also described in detail: Palenica Bike Park currently has four downhill trails of varying difficulty. Alongside the hiking trails, downhill routes with different difficulty ratings are another activity to choose from.
Wildlife attractions and exhibitions
At Leśny Park Niespodzianek, the main attraction is the flight demonstrations featuring owls specially trained for this purpose at Sowiarnia. There are currently about 30 birds at Sokolarnia. The Centre for Nature and Forest Education features animal exhibitions from North America, Africa and Europe.
Each attraction offers a different focus: demonstrations are the highlight at Sowiarnia, Sokolarnia is notable for its approximate current bird population, and the centre features exhibitions with animals from different continents. You can choose between a demonstration, an area dedicated to birds and animal exhibitions.
Museums, churches and architectural history
Muzeum Ustrońskie displays monumental forging machines and includes a growing open-air museum. It is located at the historically significant site of the former “Klemens” ironworks. The museum thus combines technical exhibits with an open-air section.
In the centre of Ustroń, Stara Zagroda includes a reconstruction of a house dating from 1768, built using authentic fragments such as door frames and ceiling beams. The Stara Zagroda ethnographic museum also houses a permanent exhibition of old tools. The focus here is on architectural history and historic objects, while Muzeum Ustrońskie offers a technical perspective through its forging machines.
The churches can also be distinguished by their different historical dates. The Evangelical Church in Ustroń is dedicated to the Apostle James the Greater and was built in 1838. It contains an altar dating from 1883, donated by steelworkers from Ustroń, Trzyniec and Frydek. St. Clement’s Parish Church was consecrated on 23 November 1788. These dates therefore refer to different events: the construction of the church, the altar and the consecration of St. Clement’s.
In front of the Pijalnia Wód stands a fountain, the Ustroń graduation tower.
