Tarnów Jezierny offers several concrete starting points for planning a trip: Lake Jezioro Tarnowskie Duże, a designated bathing area, a green hiking trail and the Pałacyk Myśliwski. If you are looking for a hotel, deciding what you want to focus on during your trip may help: would you like to plan your stay around the water, hiking or the history of the area? This way, planning starts with the character of the destination and then moves on to choosing a specific hotel.

The lake and its size

Jezioro Tarnowskie Duże is located in Tarnów Jezierny and covers 109 hectares. Its shoreline is 6,780 metres long, or 6.78 kilometres; 109 hectares is 1.09 square kilometres. This provides two different measurements: the area describes the lake’s water surface, while the distance in kilometres describes the length of its shoreline. Together, they give a concrete sense of its size; the area and shoreline length can be considered side by side, without one measurement replacing the other. There is also a designated bathing area in Tarnów Jezierny. If you are planning to visit it on a specific day for swimming, check the current visiting conditions in advance.

The green hiking trail

The green hiking trail passes through Sława, Głuchów, Jodłów, Józefów, Świętobór and Konotop before reaching Tarnów Jezierny. The section from Sława to Tarnów Jezierny also follows the shores of Lakes Tarnowskie Małe and Sława. The sequence of places indicates the trail’s route; the reference to the shores applies to the section named. This is a useful distinction when planning your trip: the route passes through several named places, while the section by the water highlights two lake shores. As it follows the water, this section combines hiking with a specific lakeside landscape.

Local history and the Pałacyk Myśliwski

A document dated 28 July 1213 mentions Tarnów Jezierny; the place is said to be listed in it as a tithe assigned by Bishop Lawrence to the Lubiąż Abbey. In 1624, Baron Hans von Schönaich built the Pałacyk Myśliwski as a Renaissance hunting lodge on the site of a medieval fortification. There are 411 years between the document’s date of 1213 and the construction year of 1624. The dates refer to different historical layers: 1213 concerns the mention of the place, while 1624 marks the construction of the Pałacyk. The term “Renaissance hunting lodge” combines its architectural classification with its character as a hunting lodge; the site of the medieval fortification adds an older historical layer.

A black connecting trail from the Tarnów Jezierny–Nowa Sól road leads to the Pałacyk Myśliwski. Overnight accommodation is also available at the Pałacyk. The black trail therefore serves a different purpose from the green hiking trail: it leads to the building, while the green trail passes through several named places before reaching Tarnów Jezierny.

This keeps the choice of Tarnów Jezierny as a destination separate from the choice of a hotel.
