Zdroisko offers two specific starting points for planning a trip: local history along a nature trail and a walk in the Buki Zdroiskie nature reserve. The “Zdroisko-historia i przyroda” nature trail leads to five stops: Izba Tradycji Kulturowych, Ulica Młyńska, Kościół, the Zanz Mill on Ulica Strumykowa, and Zanzhammer (ball hammer) near Buki Zdroiskie. The list includes cultural and historical points of interest as well as a site on the edge of the protected area. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Zdroisko, these different themes can help you choose a destination that suits your interests.

Local History at the Nature Trail Stops

Izba Tradycji Kulturowych in Zdroisko is housed in a restored barn that now serves as a community center. Its collection tells the story of the town and its residents. This stop therefore focuses not only on a building, but also on people and local history. For travelers who want to get to know the town through its local history, it is a specific point of interest.

“Kościół” is also listed as one of the five stops. Historically, Zdroisko did not have its own church. A cemetery was located on the road to Sącznik, now Ulica Bukowa. This detail links the historical direction toward Sącznik with the present-day street name Ulica Bukowa, making the geographic context of local history tangible.

The lapidarium is next to the monument to those who fell in the First World War and includes, among other things, a cast-iron cross for Otto Wentland (1804–1843). His life dates are well before the First World War, so the cross represents an earlier historical period than the neighboring monument. Visitors interested in the different historical connections will find here a detail distinct from the commemoration of those who fell.

The Zanz Mill on Ulica Strumykowa is also one of the nature trail stops. In 1765, King Frederick II bought the Zanz Mill watermill from Chrystian Wendlandt. Construction of the Zanzthal ironworks began at a mill site in 1767; until 1870, sheets, bars, iron ingots, tools, wires, nails, and needles were produced there. The dates contrast a single purchase with a production period lasting more than a century. This makes it possible to understand two different scales of industrial history: a specific event and a long period of manufacturing various iron goods.

Buki Zdroiskie and the Walk

The Buki Zdroiskie nature reserve stretches between Zdroisko and Górki. The Zanzhammer (ball hammer) site lies on the edge of the reserve and is also a nature trail stop near Buki Zdroiskie. This identifies two different geographic features: the location of a specific site on the edge of the area and the extent of the nature reserve between the two places.

If you would like to walk through the nature reserve, it is best to start at the information boards in Zdroisko. Check local conditions before your visit. This gives you both a specific recommended starting point and an idea of the larger area covered by the reserve.
