Krasnobród combines a reservoir with sandy beaches, marked routes, a geological documentation site and historic buildings. When choosing where to stay, the key consideration is what interests you most: water and leisure, trails through the town, or its religious and architectural history. These different sides of Krasnobród give you practical pointers for planning your trip.

Reservoir, Trails and Leisure Activities

In summer, you can sunbathe and swim at the sandy beaches of the Krasnobród Reservoir. The beaches are surrounded by pine forests. If you are planning a stay by the water, bear in mind the seasonal nature of these activities: swimming and sunbathing are described as summer activities, and bathing conditions may vary.

Marked routes also pass through Krasnobród. The red-marked Szlak partyzancki and the green-marked Szlak im. Władysławy Podobińskiej are two different routes through the town. On the green route, the markings are particularly important for navigation; check the trail markers on site. The blue-marked Roztoczański Szlak Rowerowy passes through Krasnobród on the Zwierzyniec–Krasnobród–Majdan Sopocki route. This lets you distinguish between the two named walking routes and the designated cycling route without conflating their different markings and courses.

Recreational fishing is possible at three bodies of water: Zalew wypoczynkowy, Olender and the Podkaplica pond. The three names help you distinguish between the fishing spots in the town. Local fishing rules may apply; take them into account when planning your visit.

Kamieniołom: Quarry and Viewpoint

The Kamieniołom geological documentation site is located in a disused quarry. The exposed rock face contains imprints of plants and animals that lived many millions of years ago. The face is about 30 metres high and 165 metres long. These approximate dimensions give you an idea of the scale of the outcrop, while the fossil imprints draw attention to its geological history.

A viewing tower, built in 2002, stands in the same quarry and offers a panorama of Krasnobród. This brings together two different perspectives at Kamieniołom: the rock face reveals geological traces, while the tower offers views of the town. The tower is a separate viewpoint within the quarry area.

Church, Monastery and Cultural Heritage

The Baroque church of pw. Nawiedzenia Najświętszej Marii Panny and its adjoining monastery were built between 1690 and 1699. About 500 metres from the monastery is the 18th-century Kaplica na Wodzie, also known as Kaplica Objawień. The site is linked to a tradition: Jakub Ruszczyk is said to have seen the Virgin Mary there in 1640. The church, monastery and chapel each offer different historical connections; the apparition is part of the tradition and should be understood as such.

Next to the monastery stands a historic larch granary, roofed with wooden shingles and dating from 1795. It houses a collection of harvest wreaths. Wreaths are added each year after being brought to Krasnobród for the diocesan harvest festival held in September. This recurring custom links the building to a growing collection and a September celebration.

The Wystawa Maryjna is located on the upper floor of the monastery, in the Sanktuarium Maryjne. It displays Marian shrines from across Poland. Together with the harvest-wreath collection, the exhibition adds two distinct themes to the historical picture: religious shrines and the tradition of the harvest festival.

A Winter Activity

Winter activities in Krasnobród include torchlit sleigh rides. Their routes run along forest paths and through ravines. This winter offering is quite different from the summer activities by the reservoir. If you are planning your trip around a particular activity, you can take these seasonal highlights into account when choosing when to visit.
