In Zamość County, tourist attractions range from historic buildings and educational activities to marked hiking trails, cycling routes, bodies of water and protected landscapes. The specific examples vary by location and type of experience. You can therefore plan your trip around whether cultural history, outdoor activities, or water and scenery are your main interests.

Culture and Education in Zamość County

The Church of St. Wojciech in Nielisz is a cultural and historical landmark. Built of wood, it dates from the mid-18th century, and its furnishings preserve older elements from other churches. The history of individual furnishings, as well as the age of the church itself, draws attention to the site’s past. In Zwierzyniec, the education and museum centre of Roztoczański National Park offers environmental education and educational activities for children and young people. The county thus features both historic church furnishings and educational activities focused on ecology.

Hiking and Cycling Routes by Distance

The nature trail to Biała Góra in Zwierzyniec is 1.2 km long. It passes through an enclosure with Polish Konik horses and white-backed cattle before reaching an observation tower. Krasnobród has two marked hiking trails of different lengths: the blue trail through the Św. Roch Nature Reserve is 14 km long, while the red Krasnobrodzkie Wąwozy trail is 4 km long. These distances help you gauge the length of a hiking route.

Cycling routes also differ in their described courses. The 11 km Zwierzyniec–Florianka cycling route follows a paved path closed to motor traffic through Roztoczański National Park. The eastern Green Velo cycling route passes through the municipality of Nielisz and offers a ride through five voivodeships in eastern Poland. Another named route, the blue Roztocze Cycling Route, passes through Zwierzyniec, Krasnobród and Majdan Sopocki.

Water and Landscape

The Zalew Nielisz is a reservoir and recreation area covering more than 950 hectares, associated with fishing and active water sports. If you are planning a stay involving water, bear in mind that water conditions and facilities may vary seasonally. These recreational activities provide a specific basis for planning around this theme, although conditions may not be the same throughout the year.

The northern part of Zamość County includes the Działy Grabowieckie: a chalk ridge covered in loess, with deep loess ravines as well as beech and hornbeam forests. The Skierbieszów Landscape Park protects part of this landscape. Another regional route is the Szlak Roztoczański, which passes through Zamość County and the municipalities of Zamość, Adamów and Krasnobród. Zamość County is considered a region with natural assets and potential for various forms of tourism, including agritourism and ecotourism. When planning a trip, you can therefore choose individual trails and places or larger landscapes as the focus of your visit.
