If you are looking for a hotel in Strzelin, you can plan your trip around different themes: churches and historic buildings, granite and landscape, or swimming and hydrotherapy. The sights offer concrete points of reference to help you decide which aspects of the town are especially interesting for your stay.

Churches and Architectural History

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was built in the 15th century as a monastery church for the Order of Poor Clares. The Gothic building is made of local granite; its floor plan forms a cross with an extended choir. The Church of St. Gotthard has a different layout: it is now a two-aisled church, with a rotunda at the west wall of the northern aisle. Comparing the two draws attention to their different floor plans and building forms.

The Powder Tower bastion also tells the story of the town’s former fortifications: it is the only tower from them still standing today. The structure dates from the 15th century, has a rectangular floor plan and is about 15 metres high. Renaissance history is associated with the House of the Dukes of Brzeg, built as a ducal court in 1605–1606. The house is currently not open to visitors; check before your trip whether this has changed.

The former St. George’s Hospital Chapel is a Gothic chapel dating from 1351, built within the former municipal hospital complex. Since 1993, it has housed Galeria Skalna, which is managed by the Strzeliński Ośrodek Kultury. As institutional use can change, check current visiting arrangements before your visit.

Granite, Parks and Views

Park Skalny is located by Strzelin railway station and displays nine types of rock quarried in the Strzelin County. A geotourism map of the Strzelińskie and Lipowe Hills complements the exhibition. An information board introduces granite, the most important rock quarried in Strzelin. In one place, you can therefore encounter both different types of rock and information about the geology of the surrounding area.

Park Miejski im. Armii Krajowej was laid out on a natural hill in the southern part of the town. The water tower on the slope of Góra Szańcowa, now used as an observation tower, offers another perspective on the landscape. From there, views extend over the Strzelińskie Hills, the Ślęża Massif and part of the Silesian Lowlands. As access to the viewpoint may change, check visiting arrangements before your trip.

Aquapark Granit complements the historic and landscape attractions with an extensive range of water activities. The swimming pool measures 25.00 × 12.50 metres and is up to 1.80 metres deep. The irregularly shaped leisure pool has a water surface area of 141.60 m² and numerous water-massage features. There is also a 15.20 m² children’s pool with a water umbrella, a 72-metre water slide and two whirlpools.

The hydrotherapy complex includes hydromassage tubs, hand and foot whirlpools, a Scottish shower and a relaxation room. Aquapark Granit is designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities. Confirm current access and usage arrangements before your trip; also check the operating details for the water facilities.
