Bad Flinsberg (Świeradów-Zdrój) combines historic spa architecture with viewpoints and a range of tours. Several trails start at the Dom Zdrojowy; other experiences lead to scenic panoramas, a mill with bread-making workshops, or stops with historical themes. When planning your trip, it is worth considering which of these highlights interest you most.

Dom Zdrojowy and Spa History

The Dom Zdrojowy in Świeradów-Zdrój was built in 1899 based on a design by the architect Grosser. The Hala Spacerowa connects the two buildings of the Dom Zdrojowy and is 80 metres long. The year it was built, the architect’s design and the connecting hall give the building a clearly defined architectural character. Anyone interested in the history of the spa town will also find a relevant focus in the exhibition at the Muzeum Górnictwa Uzdrowiskowego. The museum is also known as the Muzeum Zdrojowe; its exhibition presents the historical use of the springs and the history of the spa town.

Views of the Town and Surrounding Landscape

The Sky Walk rises above Świeradów-Zdrój in the Jizera Mountains and reaches a height of 62 metres. Two named viewpoints are also worth visiting for views of the town and surrounding area: from the Zajęcznik viewpoint, the view stretches across the town and the Kwisa River valley. The Świętojanki viewpoint is beside a group of granite-gneiss rocks of the same name on the southwestern slope of Sępia Góra. From there, the panorama takes in the town and Grzbiet Wysoki. The specific views distinguish the two viewpoints: one focuses on the town and river valley, the other on the town and mountain ridge.

Trails for Different Levels of Ability

The Główny Szlak Sudecki im. M. Orłowicza starts at the Dom Zdrojowy. Route No. 22, “Dookoła Kwisy,” also starts there; it follows forest paths and streets in Świeradów-Zdrój. Route No. 21, by contrast, is specifically described as a short, challenging MTB route over difficult terrain. It starts and ends at the Dom Zdrojowy. These routes offer different experiences: the starting point is specified for the Główny Szlak Sudecki, the course is also given for Route No. 22, while the difficulty and start and end points are highlighted for the MTB route.

The Zajęcznik trail is easy, scenic and suitable for families with children. The round trip takes about an hour and a half. It should not be confused with the interactive nature trail ZAJĘCZNIK in Świeradów-Zdrój, which has nine stops or information boards. A longer time estimate is given for the trail from Świeradów-Zdrój to Stóg Izerski: it takes about two and a half hours and involves 569 metres of elevation gain. Stóg Izerski is 1,105 metres high. When planning a specific hike, it is advisable to take current trail conditions into account.

Mill, Workshops and Themed Trail

The Czarci Młyn is a bread museum. At workshops, visitors can learn about the traditional stages of bread production. The Czarci Młyn is also a stop on the “Śladami Izerskich Tajemnic” tourist trail. Along this route through the Jizera Mountains, large bas-reliefs and mysterious pictograms to copy are displayed on boulders at 22 tourist attractions in Świeradów-Zdrój. Bad Flinsberg therefore offers a variety of ways to explore the town: its architectural and spa history, scenic panoramas, tours with different stated durations and levels of difficulty, as well as workshops and motifs to copy.
