Jerzmanowice brings together several themes for a stay: a Dutch windmill, historic architectural and park features, a protected natural monument, and a cycling route. The landscape is gently rolling and considered attractive and picturesque.

Windmill and Architectural History

The Dutch windmill is located at Jerzmanowice 63 and dates from the 18th century. It is considered the town’s main attraction and one of the best-preserved Dutch windmills in Lower Silesia. Its structure consists of timber beams on a polygonal brick base. Here, polygonal refers to the base’s many-sided shape; the wooden superstructure and brick foundation make the construction easy to appreciate. There is also a restaurant in the historic windmill. Check whether it is currently open before your visit.

Residence and Manor House

The history of the residence in Jerzmanowice dates back to the first half of the 16th century. A late-Renaissance manor house was remodeled in the neoclassical style in the first quarter of the 19th century and extensively renovated in the 1840s. The dates therefore provide two distinct points of reference: the early history of the residence and the extensive remodeling of a late-Renaissance manor house in two phases. The neoclassical style belongs to the first phase of renovations; the 1840s mark a further extensive alteration.

Palace Grounds and Ornamental Garden

The palace grounds include a viewpoint meadow surrounded by a winding path. East of the palace, there was probably a rectangular ornamental garden enclosed by a wall as early as the 18th century; surviving relics point to this feature. The two design elements have distinct characteristics: the meadow and winding path describe the palace grounds, while the ornamental garden stands out for its rectangular shape and enclosing wall. Its creation in the 18th century remains explicitly uncertain.

Landscape and Natural Monument

Jerzmanowice lies in a gently rolling landscape considered attractive and picturesque. A small-leaved lime, protected as a natural monument, stands on plot no. 11; its trunk circumference is 490 cm. The town can thus be described both through its landscape and through a single, precisely identified natural monument. The lime is associated with a specific tree species, a precise measurement and a particular plot number.

Cycling in Jerzmanowice

The first formal cycling route runs from Rokitki via Biskupin and through forests toward Modła, turns near Czernikowice and continues to Jerzmanowice before returning to Rokitki. Jerzmanowice is therefore on a route that includes several named sections, with Rokitki as both the starting point and the return point. If you plan to ride the route, check its signage and condition in advance.

There are several options to consider when planning your trip: the windmill, the history of the residence and the palace grounds offer cultural and historical points of interest, while the cycling route provides a specific option for cyclists. If you are looking for a hotel in Jerzmanowice, you can plan your stay around the topic that interests you most.
