Pieszyce combines a defining history of weaving with hiking trails, cycling routes and striking rock formations in the municipality and surrounding area. In the 19th century, the town developed into an important centre of weaving. This offers different interests to consider when planning a trip: a historical perspective on the town, a 34.4-kilometre green-marked hiking route, or trails and natural monuments, each with its own character.

Weaving history and museum

The town’s development as a centre of weaving gives Pieszyce a clear historical focus. Weaving reflects the importance this industry gained in the town during the 19th century. Alongside nature and trails, there is also a specific cultural and historical point of reference that casts the town’s history in a different light.

The Muzeum Gór Sowich – Region Sudety is located in the municipality of Pieszyce, in a former factory building with a built-up area of 2,500 m² and a site of just under one hectare. Its collections include agricultural machinery and tools, household items and appliances, and numerous machines and tools from various technical fields. These offer further topics to explore when planning a trip, alongside the history of weaving: agriculture, household life and technology.

Hiking and rock formations

The green-marked hiking trail passes through Walim, Przełęcz Walimska, Rozdroże pod Kokotem, Rościszów, Lasocin, Kozie Siodło, Sokolec, Ludwikowice Kłodzkie, Jugów and Przełęcz Jugowska, as well as Kamionki, before reaching Pieszyce. The total distance is 34.4 km. This distance is an important factor in planning the hike; check current trail conditions before setting out.

The Siedem Sówek natural monument, a rock formation made of quartz conglomerate, is also located in the municipality. It forms a wall of numerous small and large rock outcrops, ledges, towers and rock faces. The highest rocks reach about 20 m. Niedźwiedzia Skała lies on the southern slope of Kozia Równia, along a section of the Główny Szlak Sudecki between Przełęcz Jugowska and Kozie Siodło. It is one of the youngest natural monuments in Lower Silesia. The two rock formations offer different points of interest: Siedem Sówek stands out for its rock and variety of forms, while Niedźwiedzia Skała is notable for its location on the trail and its regional protected status.

Cycling trails and cross-country skiing

Illuminated shared pedestrian and cycling paths connect Pieszyce with Dzierżoniów and Bielawa. The Kamionki cycling trail is an MTB route with steep climbs, tight turns, and fast, technically challenging descents. The illuminated routes between the towns are therefore quite different from the MTB trail, which is characterised by challenging descents.

There are six groomed cross-country ski trails in the area around Pieszyce. Four can be reached from Przełęcz Jugowska; the other two start at Przełęcz Srebrna and Przełęcz Walimska. Cross-country skiing is seasonal, so check current conditions before setting out.

If you are looking for a hotel in Pieszyce, you can choose your travel focus from these different themes: weaving history and the museum, hiking, rock formations, cycling or seasonal cross-country skiing.
