Bielawa – Nature, Water and City History
Accommodation in Bielawa
Bielawa offers several distinct starting points for a trip: the wooded ridge of Góra Parkowa, Jezioro Bielawskie and its beaches, and prominent landmarks in the townscape. If you are looking for a hotel in Bielawa, these highlights can help shape your choice of destination. To find your bearings, consider what you are looking for: trails through wooded terrain, activities by the water, or culture in town?
Góra Parkowa: woodland and trails in the central part of the town
At 455 metres high, Góra Parkowa lies in the central part of Bielawa and is part of the Bielawskie Hills. It covers 29 hectares, of which 28 hectares are woodland. This landscape feature is defined both by its location within the town and by its wooded terrain. Góra Parkowa has a network of walking and cycling trails through the forest.
Three walking trails of varying difficulty lead to the summit. They are complemented by the “Góra Parkowa” nature trail. The trails share a destination but differ in difficulty; the nature trail also has a focus on the natural environment. A lookout tower built in 1930 stands at the summit. The Biała Skałka rock face is also located on the western slope. These landmarks lie at different points along the ridge, giving Góra Parkowa more than one point of interest.
Trails, cycling and outdoor activities
The trails on Góra Parkowa are part of its network through wooded terrain. In addition, Bielawa has nearly 500 kilometres of MTB routes, as well as trails for hiking and Nordic walking. The MTB figure and the local walking and cycling trails refer to different scales: the figure gives the overall route distance for Bielawa, while Góra Parkowa offers a specific place for walks and bike rides. This lets you explore the landscape according to the activity you have in mind, without attributing all the routes to a single hill.
Jezioro Bielawskie and recreational facilities
There are two sandy beaches at Jezioro Bielawskie. Facilities include changing rooms, toilets, waste bins and piers. The swimming area has been tested and approved for swimming; check that swimming is permitted during the period of your visit. This makes it easy to distinguish a day by the water from trails in the forest: beaches and swimming are the main attractions here, while Góra Parkowa is defined above all by its terrain and trails.
Aquarius is part of Bielawa’s sports and recreation centre. It includes a 73-metre-long slide and the Aquariusport Studio of Biological Renewal, with a fitness room, sauna area and massage studio. Another place to get active is Bielawa Skatepark, right next to Park Miejski. It is illuminated and has numerous challenging obstacles. Each facility has its own focus: the water slide and wellness area at Aquarius, obstacles at the skatepark, and trails in the countryside.
Culture in the townscape
There are also specific places of interest within the town: a penitential cross stands at both 27 Waryńskiego Street and 130 Wolności Street. The two locations can be distinguished clearly without treating them as a single site. Fontanna z Sową is a symbol of Bielawa and is located in the heart of the town. Together, these places show a different side of the destination from its forests, trails and beaches: they are part of the urban landscape and complement the nature and recreation offerings with distinctive local landmarks.
Bielawa therefore offers several specific themes to consider when planning your trip, each of which can be explored on its own: Góra Parkowa with its trails, lookout tower and rock face; the beaches at Jezioro Bielawskie; sports and recreational facilities; and individual cultural sites in town.
