Trzemesnia: Hiking and Cultural Heritage
Accommodation in Trzemesnia
Trzemesnia lies in the Trzemeśnianka Valley and combines hiking trails with religious cultural heritage. Two routes are described with their distances and walking times; there is also the wooden Church of St. Clement, images of the Virgin Mary, and a roadside shrine. This lets you take the different aspects of the town into account when planning your trip.
Hiking Trails and Walking Times
The blue mountain hiking trail runs from Swoszowice through Świątniki Górne, Siepraw, Myślenice Market Square, the northern slopes of Uklejna, Trzemesnia, Ostrysz, and Czasław to Szczawa. The total route is listed as 19 kilometers, with a walking time of 5 hours and 30 minutes. Trzemesnia is therefore one section of a trail connecting several towns and scenic spots.
The second, John Paul II trail begins at the church in Trzemesnia and runs through Poręba, Działek, and Śliwnik. It is 5.8 kilometers long, with a stated walking time of two hours. Compared with the details given for the blue mountain hiking trail, this route is shorter; the two trails also differ in their routes and starting points.
Church and Images of the Virgin Mary
The wooden Church of St. Clement in Trzemesnia was built around 1780. The main altar contains the image of Our Lady of Trzemesnia, which is venerated as miraculous. The church thus brings together a specific history of construction and an image of the Virgin Mary that forms part of the town’s religious heritage.
Another local feature is the statue of Our Lady of the Rosary, dating from 1851. Trzemesnia also has a chapel-like roadside shrine from the 19th century. It is surrounded by linden trees designated as natural monuments. The roadside shrine and the protected trees bring a historic small-scale monument and a specifically identified landscape feature together in one place.

Myślenice’s historic urban layout is an example of a medieval town plan and preserves remnants of a settlement dating from before the town was founded. It is considered a valuable monument at both the regional and national levels. The church of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Myślenice was built in the mid-15th century; an early Baroque chapel was added in 1642–1646. The sanctuary houses a miraculous 16th-century image painted in Italy, which became a destination for numerous pilgrimages.
The main feast at the sanctuary is held on September 8. From May to October, nighttime Fatima devotions with vigils are also held there on the 13th of each month. These set dates complement the hiking and cultural themes you can explore in Myślenice independently of Trzemesnia’s attractions.
