Śrem combines the Warta with architectural history and cultural offerings. The town stretches along both banks of the river; the Promenada nad Wartą is a walking and cycling path along the Warta. The town also has historic buildings, a museum and the Kinoteatr Słonko. This gives you several possible focuses when planning your trip: river scenery, architecture or specific cultural events. If you’re looking for a hotel in Śrem, you can first consider which of these focuses you’d like your days to revolve around.

The Warta riverbanks and surrounding landscape

The Promenada nad Wartą offers a path along the river for walking or cycling. South of Śrem, Lake Grzymisławskie lies in a narrow, deep trough 7.5 kilometres long. The two landscape features are clearly distinct: the Warta has a walking and cycling path, while the lake is described in terms of its location south of the town and the shape and length of the trough. You can therefore consider the riverbanks and the lake as different focal points for your stay.

Architectural history across several eras

Śrem Town Hall was built in 1838. It follows the Rundbogenstil, or round-arch style, popular in the 19th century, which draws on Renaissance and Classicist influences. This brings together a specific year of construction and an architectural style with two named influences.

The Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary, also known as the Fara, has a 62-metre-high tower and star vaults dating from the 15th or 16th century. Star vaults are vaults with ribs arranged in a star pattern. The Baroque Franciscan complex dates from the 17th and 18th centuries and comprises a church and a former Franciscan monastery.

In chronological terms, the range extends from the Fara’s star vaults through the Franciscan complex to the construction of the town hall in 1838. This sequence is particularly useful for getting an overview of Śrem’s architectural history: the buildings mentioned do not belong to the same era, and their dates are given with varying degrees of precision.

Cinema and museum

The Kinoteatr Słonko offers premiere films, special events and broadcasts. The DKF Klaps film discussion club is also based there. Film screenings and the discussion club offer different ways to enjoy a cultural stay in Śrem.

“Niedziela w Muzeum” (“Sunday at the Museum”) takes place once a month from 12:00 to 16:00 and is held in conjunction with an exhibition opening or, occasionally, another event. The “Wystawa Plenerowa” (outdoor exhibition) is located in the museum garden of the Muzeum Śremskie and is open year-round from 7:00 to 21:00. The two differ in that one is a monthly event, while the other is an exhibition with daily opening hours. Check the latest dates and opening hours before your visit, as both may change.

Planning your stay

The museum event’s monthly schedule matters if you want to plan your visit around it; the architecture, by contrast, offers a broader historical focus across several eras. This gives your stay a clear framework, while you can choose specific activities to suit your interests.
