If you’re looking for a hotel in Ostrzeszów, you can first decide whether culture, hiking or a combination of the two will be the focus of your stay.
Church Art and Architectural History
The former Bernardine monastery complex consists of interconnected church and monastery buildings. Multicoloured Baroque wall paintings have been preserved inside the monastery church. The parish church offers a different perspective on the city’s art history: its frescoes were commissioned by Ostrzeszów residents between the 14th and 19th centuries. The Baroque altars include the high altar, which features a copy of Murillo’s “Assumption of the Virgin”.
The parish church in Ostrzeszów was founded in 1353, and its nave was added in 1360. After earlier destruction, it was rebuilt between 1721 and 1723. Another historic building is the Kazimierz Tower (Baszta Kazimierzowska), the surviving tower of the former castle in Ostrzeszów. From the viewpoint, you can take in the city panorama. In 1960, the tower was restored and adapted for museum and exhibition use.
Museums in Ostrzeszów
The Władysław Golus Regional Museum is located in the town hall at Rynek 19. Its permanent exhibitions focus on Norwegian officers at Oflag XXI C, the work of Antoni Serbeński, and “Ignacy Moś for His City”. The three themes offer different starting points for a museum visit, from the history of the Oflag to people and art connected with the city.
In the broader destination of Schildberg, another museum is located in the Church and Monastery Complex of the Sisters of Nazareth in Ostrzeszów. It covers the presence of the Bernardines and the history of the Sisters of Nazareth. There is also a temporary exhibition about the Sisters of Nazareth in Grodno and accessible former burial crypts. Visits are possible on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1, 2 or 3 pm, and on Sundays at 2 or 3 pm. Check visiting hours in advance.
Hiking Trails and Views

The red-marked nature trail starts and ends at OSiR Ostrzeszów and is 21 kilometres long. These distances can help you gauge the scope of a planned hike.
A shorter option is the black access trail “W Dolinę Baryczy”: it runs from Ostrzeszów via Rojów to Szklarka Myślniewska and is 11 kilometres long. The Kazimierz Tower adds a city viewpoint to these options.
