In Koło County, the travel destination Wartbrücken, designated nature areas stand alongside churches, palaces, and historic sites. You can therefore choose different focuses when planning your trip: nature and protected areas, sacred art, museums, or routes through the region.

Churches, Palaces, and Historic Sites

The parish church in Koło is Gothic in style and dates from around the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. The Bernardine Church and Bernardine Monastery in Koło offer a different architectural impression: both are late Baroque in style and have interiors with Rococo furnishings. Thus, two different eras and styles stand side by side in Koło.

In Brdów, the Shrine of Our Lady of Victory houses a historic image of Our Lady of Victory. It was painted in the 15th century at the request of Władysław Jagiełło. The church in Kościelec represents Romanesque art; the restored Palace of Count Kreutz, built after 1836, is also located there. The castle ruins in Borysławice are associated with the 14th and 15th centuries, while the castle in Przedecz was built in the mid-14th century.

Beyond individual buildings, the Gothic Trail of Koło County leads to churches, cathedrals, monasteries, town halls, fortified castles, ruins, and city walls dating from the 14th to the 16th centuries. Those interested in architectural history will find a thematic framework that brings together different types of historic architecture.

Museums and Practical Visit Planning

The main collection at the Museum of Ceramic Techniques in Koło consists mostly of objects from the Koło stoneware factory. Museum events also offer the opportunity to come into direct contact with ceramic products. If you are planning a specific date or type of event, check the current program in advance.

The grounds of the Kulmhof Museum in Chełmno are open to visitors Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the museum is closed on Mondays. Check for possible holiday exceptions before your visit. The museum offers English-language guided tours to visitors from abroad, including organized groups of Israeli young people. Tours must be arranged at least three days in advance.

Dąbskie Błota is an ecological site, while the Bielce nature complex is near Kościelec. The different names give an overview of the variety of designated natural areas without reducing them to a single form of protection.
