Accommodation in Neutomischl
Neutomischl (Nowy Tomyśl) offers a range of starting points for planning a trip: willow and hop culture, a zoo, local history, and designated trails. Each theme offers a different focus. You can plan your time around your interests, whether you are drawn to local culture, an event, or a walking or cycling tour.
Willow Culture and Cultural Events
The Muzeum Wikliniarstwa i Chmielarstwa in Nowy Tomyśl is the only museum of its kind in Poland. Its name refers to willow weaving and hop cultivation, giving it a clearly defined cultural focus.
Every year, in the second half of August, the Ogólnopolski Konkurs Plecionkarski takes place at the museum as part of the Jarmarku Chmielo-Wikliniarskiego. The exact dates may vary, so if you want to plan your trip around the competition, check the dates for your preferred travel period.
Another event venue is the Wiklinowa Muszla Koncertowa on Norwida Street. It is made of woven willow and is used for cultural events. The program may change, so the specific date of your trip is important if you are planning to attend an event.
Zoo and Trails for Different Types of Tours
The Nowy Tomyśl Zoological Garden has been open since 1974 and now covers more than five hectares. At the entrance, the garden has a children's playground and a mini-zoo with small farm animals, aimed at younger visitors. The zoo thus complements the city's cultural attractions with an offering that explicitly caters to younger guests.
For cyclists, the Szlak Wikliny is an approximately 113-kilometer cycling loop through the municipalities of Miedzichowo and Nowy Tomyśl. On entering Nowy Tomyśl, the route points to the Muzeum Wikliniarstwa i Chmielarstwa and the Zoological Garden. Signage may change, so check the current waymarkers on site.
A yellow hiking trail runs from Nowy Tomyśl via Paproć, Chojniki, and Szarki. This offers different ways to plan a tour: a cycling loop with an approximate total distance, and a hiking trail with named stops along the way. It is also advisable to check the current route of the hiking trail before setting off.
Local History and Further Information
The Nowotomyski Szlak Turystyczno-Historyczny runs through the town. Its stops include the town hall, churches, and a former mill, among other places, highlighting different aspects of the town's history. If you plan to follow the trail, check the current signage on site.
In Grubsko, wooden buildings and the natural surroundings reflect conditions as they were more than 300 years ago. The town thus offers another cultural perspective alongside the urban stops in Nowy Tomyśl.
The transport infrastructure of the Nowy Tomyśl municipality includes the nearby A2 motorway and a well-developed railway network. Check specific road and rail connections separately when planning your trip. This allows you to plan your journey regardless of whether your focus is on a cultural event, local trails, or several themes during your stay.
