Discover Jarocin: Culture, Park and Festival History
Accommodation in Jarocin
Jarocin brings together the town’s history, a landscape park and places connected with its festival tradition and Polish rock. When planning your trip, you can first decide whether you are more interested in historic sites and museums, paths through green spaces or cultural topics. These priorities can also guide your search for a hotel in Jarocin.
Town Hall, Museum and Local History
Jarocin Town Hall was built between 1799 and 1804 on the site of earlier buildings dating from the 14th to the 18th centuries. Its ground floor has arcaded passageways supported by massive pillars. The period in which it was built and its distinctive design offer different historical and architectural points of interest.
The Regional Museum is located in Pałac Radolińskich and has a permanent exhibition on the history, culture and artistic traditions of the Jarocin region. While the exhibition brings these regional topics together, the Strefa Odkrywania Wyobraźni i Aktywności (SOWA) there focuses on learning through independent exploration and experimentation. The same museum thus highlights both regional subject matter and a distinct, exploration-based approach to learning. Skarbczyk is now a branch of the Regional Museum in Jarocin.
Parkland and a Green Walking Trail
Park Radolińskich is a landscape park of approximately 30 hectares, laid out between 1840 and 1850. One of its notable features is one of the longest hornbeam avenues in Europe. The park is also home to numerous trees of historic significance. The grounds combine a spacious landscape with individual collections of noteworthy trees.
The green walking trail is 24.5 kilometres long and runs from the railway station via the market square and Pałac Radolińskich to Jarocin City Park. Its route connects these named stops on a longer walk through the town. Jarocin railway station is at ul. Dworcowa 1. The trail’s length gives you a concrete measure for planning your route; check current trail conditions before setting out.
Festival Tradition, Rock and Murals
Spichlerz Polskiego Rocka is a venue for a range of cultural and educational projects. It is associated with the project “Z kontrkultury w popkulturę”: successive editions of the project leave large-scale murals in Jarocin, drawing on the history of Polish rock. Pomnik Glana also highlights an aspect of the town’s history, referring to Jarocin’s festival tradition.
Another cultural option is Klubcafé Spichlerz, where young bands and established artists can perform. If you would like to explore the murals around Jarocin by bicycle, you can take a bike tour after contacting representatives of Stowarzyszenie RoweLOVE Jarocin. Alongside museum visits and walks in the park, there are therefore several ways to explore the history of rock and the festival.
