Granowo brings together historic buildings, cultural institutions and cycling routes. This offers a range of themes to consider when planning your trip: a manor house in a park, the parish church of St. Martin, memorial sites and connections to several places. If you’re looking for a hotel in Granowo, you can consider which of these themes matter to you during your stay.

Manor House, Park and History

Pałac w Granowie is a 19th-century manor house in a 4.57-hectare park on Stawowa Street. The listed palace complex also includes the Oficyna, a former manor house dating from the 18th century. The complex thus brings together buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. The parkland and location on Stawowa Street give the manor house a clear connection to Granowo.

The manor house’s history of use also spans two centuries: the Działyński family lived in the house in the 19th century, and the Czartoryski family in the 20th century. Today, the manor house is home to the Biblioteka Publiczna Gminy Granowo and the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury. Historical family ties and present-day institutional uses thus come together in the same building.

Parish Church and Memorial Sites

The parish church of St. Martin is considered one of the most valuable historic sites in the municipality of Granowo. Its complex includes a wooden bell tower dating from the late 19th century. The church also lies on the Powiatowym Szlaku Turystycznym im. Michała Drzymały, Kościoły Drewniane Powiatu Grodziskiego, a tourist trail whose name refers to the wooden churches of Grodzisk County.

The grave of Michał Hoffmann is located by the church. He was a private in the 3rd Battalion of the western group of the Greater Poland insurgents and fell on the western front on February 11, 1919. The grave connects the church site with a specific person and his story. Anyone interested in Granowo’s historic sites will find here not only the church building and its bell tower, but also this biographical connection.

Another memorial site is Góra Zwycięstwa. The memorial park is in the center of Granowo, at the intersection of Poznańska and Szkolna streets. Granowo thus brings together different forms of remembrance: the grave by the church and a site in the center explicitly named a memorial park.

Culture at the Library

The Biblioteka Publiczna Gminy Granowo also serves as a cultural center. Meetings of the Pracownia Gobelinu Artystycznego and the “Granowianie” vocal ensemble are held there; it also hosts tapestry exhibitions and meetings with artists and book authors. The cultural program thus ranges from textile art and singing to exhibitions and encounters with artists and literary figures. The specific program may change. If an event is important to your trip, check the latest schedule in advance.

Cycling Routes and Connections

A cycling route connecting Granowo with Granówko was built in 2012. Construction took place as part of the “Renewal and Development of Rural Areas” measure under the PROW program for 2007–2013. Another cycling route connects Kubaczyn with Granowo. Granówko and Kubaczyn are therefore two named destinations connected to Granowo by cycling routes.

The sidewalk along Kościańska Street in Granowo extends the newly built cycling route. A route allows residents of Drużyn to travel to Granowo on foot or by bicycle. Both the destinations and the modes of travel mentioned are relevant here: for the route from Drużyn, walking and cycling are expressly mentioned, as is its connection to the residents of Drużyn.

A covered rest area for tourists was built next to the railway viaduct in Granowo. Along with the named cycling and pedestrian connections, this gives a picture of different local infrastructure points: routes between Granowo and other places, a sidewalk along Kościańska Street and a rest area by the viaduct.
