Malafesta offers a cultural and historical connection through the Oratorio di Malafesta and a natural history perspective in the spring landscape along the Roggia Vidimana. It also has examples of cultural and event life from 2024 and 2025. The festival programmes mentioned are specific to their respective years.

Oratory and local history

The Oratorio di Malafesta is a religious oratory built in the 17th century, dedicated to Sant’Antonio da Padova and consecrated in 1666. Its dedication and specific year of consecration place the building within local sacred history. For travellers interested in the history of religious architecture, it is a distinctive starting point for discovering Malafesta through its history.

Spring landscape along the Roggia Vidimana

In the Zona di risorgive near Malafesta, bubbles emerge from the ground at several points along the Roggia Vidimana. This is caused by groundwater rising to the surface. At the level of the Malafesta settlement, a belt of year-round springs also begins, extending north beyond the provincial border to irrigate the area. Thus, a visible groundwater phenomenon and its irrigation function are among the area’s natural features.

The Fontanàs di Malafesta can be reached from the stretch of the unpaved Via Paludi immediately after the bridge over the Roggia Vidimana. Check local conditions before visiting.

Getting around on foot and by bike

The area in Malafesta can be reached via the footpath and cycle path along the Tagliamento. Malafesta is also on a proposed cycling tourism route from Alvisopoli (municipality of Fossalta di P.) to Malafesta (municipality of San Michele al T.). The first detail describes access to an area; the second describes the proposed route to Malafesta.

The 2024 sMAiLAfiesta furlana was the sixth edition and was organised by Polisportiva Malafesta-Villanova. Minors were allowed to take part in the fishing competition only when accompanied. The programme at the time also included a Friulian dinner featuring gnocchi with duck, braised cod, snails in sauce, country-style tripe, beans and meat in sauce.

The Smailafiesta and Festa dell'Emigrante took place in Malafesta di San Michele al Tagliamento in 2025. If an event is a key reason for your trip, check the specific dates for your intended travel period.

The Ristorantino 1907 in Malafesta also offers a local dining option: guests can enjoy dishes there and reserve a table. The historic restaurant was already in existence at the beginning of the 20th century. As business details may change, check the current reservation options before visiting.
