Vo' lies at the transition from the plain to the hills and forms the western edge of the Parco Regionale dei Colli Euganei. Expansive, gently sloping hillsides planted with vines define the landscape. This makes nature, architectural and landscape history, and the Festa dell'Uva di Vo' key themes for planning your trip. The official Route No. 9 offers a specific hiking option; the villa, museum, church, and hermitage provide different points of connection to the area's cultural history. This lets you assess the town based on the focus of your stay, rather than treating its different themes as interchangeable attractions.

Landscape and hiking trail

The official Route No. 9 – Sentiero del Monte Venda passes through Vo' and is designated as a tourist hiking trail. It is 5.7 kilometres long; walking time is about two hours, and the elevation gain is 50 metres. These three details help you assess the hike: the route length, approximate time, and elevation gain describe different aspects of the undertaking. You can therefore plan the hike as a separate part of your stay, without conflating it with sightseeing destinations.

There is one clear restriction concerning the ruins of the Olivetan monastery on Monte Venda: interior visits are currently not accessible. Bear this in mind if the ruins are part of your plans.

Villa, museum and architecture

The Villa Contarini Giovanelli Venier complex is considered one of the outstanding examples of planned urban development around a Venetian villa. The emphasis is therefore on the relationship between the villa and an orderly urban plan. The Museo del Paesaggio in the villa displays reproductions of old maps, historical cartography, and documents on the changing Euganean Hills. These exhibits offer a way of looking at the landscape as more than just a view: maps and documents make its development a subject in its own right. This complements the impression made by the vine-covered slopes with a cultural and historical perspective.

The Church of San Lorenzo has a single nave and is in the Palladian style. Its small bell tower recalls the architecture of Giuseppe Sardi in its design. These three features—the layout, style, and reference to Sardi—offer a concrete starting point for anyone interested in architectural forms while travelling.

History and the Festa dell'Uva

The small hermitage on Monte Venda became a monastery under the Rule of Saint Benedict in 1229. The year marks a clearly identified historical change and adds a history of religious use to the architectural aspects of the villa and church.

The Festa dell'Uva di Vo' offers a different perspective. It has long featured a parade of allegorical floats with themes related to grapes and wine; music, costumed participants, and folk groups accompany the procession. Unlike the architectural and historical themes, the focus here is on the shared experience of the festival. If you plan to time your trip around the Festa, check the specific event dates in advance.
