Galzignano Terme: Gardens, Trails and Thermal Springs
Accommodation in Galzignano Terme
During a stay in Galzignano Terme, you can explore nature trails, garden art, culture, thermal resources and golf, each appealing to different interests. When planning, it is worth considering the different highlights: one route winds through chestnut woods and spring blossoms, while the garden and museum explore botanical, historical and artistic themes.
Trails and Nature on Monte Venda
Trail No. 4, Sentiero del Monte Venda G. G. Lorenzoni, passes by the Fontana Olivato and through a chestnut wood where blossoms can be seen in spring. The route thus combines a named landmark with a seasonal feature of the landscape.
Casa Marina is an information point for the Regional Park, serving people exploring the park’s trails. It offers nature education activities as well as a botanical garden with an area devoted to medicinal plants. The Cammino Laudato Si' also leads to Casa Marina on Monte Venda, where visitors can visit the botanical garden and the Sentiero dei pianeti. The route thus brings together an information point and clearly named destinations for those interested in nature.
Garden Art in Valsanzibio
The Giardino Monumentale di Valsanzibio features a boxwood maze that is over 400 years old. Guided tours explain the garden’s symbolic meaning and some botanical aspects; advance reservations are required for these tours.
The garden is open daily for self-guided visits. From the last weekend in February to the second weekend in December, it is open from 10 a.m. until sunset; in December, until 4:30 p.m., and from late March to early October, until 7 p.m. From the second weekend in December to the last weekend in February, opening hours are daily from 11 a.m. to 4:30/5 p.m. Since seasonal hours may change, check the schedule before your visit.
Museum, History and Landscape
The Museo dei Colli Euganei explores the millennia-long relationship between people and nature in the Euganean Hills. Its five sections on nature, history and art introduce Galzignano Terme and the localities of Galzignano and Valsanzibio. The museum thus connects nature themes with the history and art of these places.
You can reach the Museo dei Colli Euganei by bicycle via the Euganean Hills loop and then along the Galzignano cycle and footpath from Battaglia Terme.
The Antica Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta stands on Colle della Chiesa, also known as “Monteselo.” It dominates the surrounding landscape.
Thermal Resources and Golf
The Terme di Galzignano are part of the Euganean Thermal Basin. They are known for hyperthermal water containing salts, bromine and iodine, which emerges at around 80°C, as well as for thermal mud. The approximate water temperature and the listed constituents make this a different focus from the trails through woods and hills.
Golf Galzignano has a 9-hole course measuring 2,048 metres, with an exclusive design, water features and ponds. The practice facilities include covered tees, a pitching/chipping green, a putting green and a practice bunker. If you are including golf in your travel plans, you will find details here about both the course and the practice facilities described.
