Discover Terlago: Karst Lake and Historic Buildings
Accommodation in Terlago
If you are looking for a hotel in Terlago, you can choose where to stay based on the themes you want to shape your trip: the shallow Lago di Terlago, cultural and historical sites, or the Anello Vezzano–Terlago cycling loop. This lets you bring nature, local history and a specific cycling route together in your travel plans and decide which focus matters most for your stay.
Lago di Terlago and Lakeside Paths
Lago di Terlago is a shallow karst lake at an altitude of 416 metres. A path accessible to everyone runs around its entire perimeter. The lakeside path and the Anello Vezzano–Terlago are two different ways to shape your stay: one is a path along the water, while the other is a cycling route with clearly indicated distance options.
The lake also attracts anglers: pike, trout, carp, tench and chub are among the fish species associated with fishing at Lago di Terlago. Local permits and regulations may vary; check the rules that apply to your fishing plans in advance.
Church, Castle and Local History
The Church of San Pantaleone in Terlago contains frescoes by Verla dating from 1518. They depict the lives of San Pantaleone and San Sebastiano, as well as other biblical episodes. The wall paintings thus bring together depictions of saints and other biblical subjects.
Castello di Terlago was built as a fortress to control a narrow stretch of the valley. Its first towers can be dated to around the 12th century. A clearly visible façade survives on the Torre di Braidone, where the construction techniques of a residential and defensive building from the 12th to 13th century can be seen. The two buildings thus point to different aspects of historic architecture: the defensive function of the castello and the construction style of a residential and defensive building at the torre.
Another part of the town’s history is the Pietra della Regola, a stone table at the intersection of Via Defant and Via Roma. In the past, people gathered there to discuss matters of common concern. The site links a specific place in the streetscape with the former practice of community discussion.
Anello Vezzano–Terlago by Bike
The Anello Vezzano–Terlago loop is designed for cycling. Depending on the option chosen, it is 12.8 or 15.4 kilometres long; the two stated distances differ by 2.6 kilometres. The route runs almost entirely on paved roads, with only one flat section on an unpaved surface. Conditions may change seasonally, so check them before setting out. On the way towards Terlago, the route passes directly by the small Church of San Pantaleone.
Getting There by Bus
The timetable for the period from 27 June to 9 September 2026 showed bus route B206 running from Trento via Cadine, Sopramonte and Terlago to Monte Terlago. Before travelling, check the services and timetable information valid for your stay.
