Panchià: Paths, Bridges and History
Accommodation in Panchià
Panchià can be explored through its landscape and specifically named routes: the Avisio runs through the village, while the Massiccio del Cornon and Monte Agnello dominate the scenery. This combination of river and mountain backdrop frames the range of activities without limiting them to any one kind of stay. For guests looking for a hotel, cultural sights, a walk to the wooden bridge and cycling routes offer different points of reference to help decide which themes will shape their stay.
River and mountains as landmarks
The wider surrounding region also includes the Ski Center Latemar and Alpe Cermis; both are easy to reach from Panchià. They provide a point of reference for travelers choosing Panchià not only for its local routes but also for access to broader regional destinations.
Walk to the covered bridge
The walk “Il ponte coperto di Panchià” starts at Piazza Chiesa, descends along Via Cavelonte and follows the Avisio to an old covered bridge made of larch wood. The Ponte coperto di Panchià connects Panchià with Val Cavelonte and is unique of its kind in Trentino. The walk thus combines a specific starting point and route with a structure that also provides a connection to Val Cavelonte. Trail conditions may vary by season; check them before setting out.
Buildings and cultural traces
The parish church of S. Valentino dates back to 1190. The Ponte vecchio over the Avisio has a double-pitched wooden roof. For more than three centuries, the slopes of Cornon have been marked by distinctive shepherds’ inscriptions in red ochre, locally known as “ból.” Along the walk to Val Cavelonte, you can also admire the monumental tree “Pecio del Cuco.”
In nearby Cavelonte, a Mass is celebrated at the Chiesa del Redentore every year on the first Sunday in August. The annual schedule may change, so check the date before your trip.
Cycling routes between Panchià and the valleys
The Ciclabile di Fiemme is an easy, 20 km cycling route that passes through Panchià. Following the Avisio, it runs through villages, meadows and forests. Conditions may vary by season, so check them for your travel dates. The Ciclabile delle Dolomiti di Fiemme e Fassa connects the Fiemme and Fassa valleys over 48 km between Molina di Fiemme and Alba di Canazei; Panchià is one of the places listed along the route. Another connection is the Easy Bike Ring - verde, which links Ziano di Fiemme and Panchià. Together, they offer routes of different lengths: a route rated easy at 20 km, a 48 km valley connection and a link between two villages.
