Pampeago is a starting point for trails and routes with a range of focuses: art, views, hiking and cycling. When choosing where to stay, it is worth distinguishing between the respective access routes and journey times. Several destinations can be reached from Pampeago by chairlift; operating hours vary by season. Before making specific plans, therefore, check the operating schedule of the lift named for your route.

Art Trails and Elevations

The Latemar.Art trail passes through the Pampeago Green and White Gallery in Pampeago. It is considered one of the highest art parks in the world. RespirArt is a separate art park in Pampeago: it stretches for three kilometres and lies at an elevation of between 2,000 and 2,200 metres. The two art offerings have different focuses. Latemar.Art takes you through a gallery; with RespirArt, you can factor the route length and elevation range into your day’s plans.

Hikes and Access Routes at Latemar

For the hike to Rifugio Torre di Pisa, the route from Pampeago starts with the Latemar chairlift, followed by around 20 minutes on foot along trail 504 to Passo Feudo. This approximate walking time applies to the section to Passo Feudo, not the entire hike. Latemar.Panorama can also be hiked from Pampeago: take the Latemar chairlift to Passo Feudo, then follow trails 516 and 22. Passo Feudo is the shared reference point here; the trail sequence differs.

The Latemar.360° panoramic platforms are located at Passo Feudo and in the village of Tresca. From Pampeago, they can be reached by taking the Latemar and Agnello chairlifts, followed by easy walks. The route to Malga Mayrl is different: from Pampeago, take the Latemar chairlift and then continue on foot for around 30 minutes. This walking time is approximate; trail conditions may vary. If you are comparing several destinations, this information can help you consider each lift and walking section separately.

Mountain Dairy and Seasonal Events

Another option is the recurring event “I suoni e la vita della malga” (“The sounds and life of the mountain dairy”). It includes a short walk from the Tresca chairlift car park to Malga Pampeago. Dates and booking conditions vary by season. If you are planning to make the event a set part of your stay, check the dates and conditions in the relevant seasonal programme before arranging your trip around it.

Nature and Cycling

The Giro del Monte Cornon runs through the Alta Val di Stava; a large part of the Giro del Monte Agnello route is also in this area. The Alta Val di Stava is designated as a Site of Community Importance and a Special Protection Area. It provides a habitat for Alpine wildlife such as marmots, chamois, roe deer, red deer and eagles; sightings cannot be guaranteed. The different proportions of the two routes that run through the area are a practical point to consider when choosing your route.

The Giro del Latemar cycling circuit also has a clearly named point of reference: it passes over Passo Pampeago at an elevation of 1,983 metres. The pass is closed to motor traffic. Check seasonal traffic regulations and road conditions before setting off. This will help you distinguish between the chairlift and walking sections of the hiking options and the mountain pass route for the cycling circuit when planning.
