Molveno between the lake and trails

If you are looking for a hotel in Molveno, the trails and sights can help you plan your stay around your own interests. Lake Molveno covers an area of more than 3 km² and is over 120 metres deep at its deepest point. The current lakeside path runs around the lake; the Ponte Romano di Mezzolago is along this route. The circular trail continues to the waterfall near the 13th-century Ponte Romano. This lets you choose between a circuit around the lake and a route with the waterfall as a named destination.

Hikes from Pradel

A panoramic cable car takes visitors directly from the centre of Molveno to the Pradel plateau. From there, numerous hikes lead to traditional mountain huts in the heart of the Dolomiti di Brenta. The lakeside circuit and the hikes from Pradel therefore offer different starting points for planning your day: one follows the lakeshore, the other starts on the plateau. The cable car operates seasonally; check the service dates for your visit. Trail conditions also vary depending on the time of year.

Forest Park and Sciury nature trail

Forest Park is located at the mountain station of the La Panoramica cable car. From Molveno, access is via the Molveno–Pradel section, followed by about 150 metres along a forest road. The park has high ropes courses among the trees, which vary in height and difficulty. If you are interested in activities among the trees, these two features give you specific points of comparison. The park operates seasonally, so it is worth checking the dates before your visit.

The Sciury nature trail offers a different experience: it is an educational, interactive forest walk where you can learn about the squirrel, its natural habitat and its food. The daily challenges the animal faces to survive are also among the topics covered. The walk therefore connects the forest with the way of life of a particular animal. Check the current operating details of the attraction before travelling.

Culture and history

At the Segheria Taialacqua, extensive information panels explain the complex mechanism of its special machine, dating from the 15th or 16th century. In summer, the sawmill is opened and put into operation to explain its history and use. As it operates seasonally, check the visiting dates in advance.

The Chiesa di San Borromeo offers another historical point of interest: its interior is wide and rectangular, with a single nave and a coffered ceiling above. The interior decoration is by Carlo Bonacina. Among the historic routes, the Strada dei Marocchi has a different character: it is known as an ancient Roman road and was restored in 1265. The Fortini di Napoleone, by contrast, consist of trenches built in August 1703 during the War of the Spanish Succession against the French. This brings together a historic road link and military structures from different periods.

Lakeside water park

The water park on Molveno beach near the lake includes a 20 Ă— 15-metre leisure pool, water games, waterfalls and slides. The facilities also include an entertainment service. If a visit to the water park is part of your plans, check the current opening dates in advance.
