Baradili: Courtyard Houses, Santa Margherita and Ravioli
Accommodation in Baradili
If you are looking for hotels in Baradili, you can get to know the town through several themes: a medieval-looking village with old courtyard houses, sacred art, archaeological remains, water and sports facilities, and the ravioli tradition. This lets you choose a focus when planning your trip—village scenery and history, activities, or a festival celebrating local produce.
Village Scenery, Church and Archaeological Remains
Baradili has the appearance of a medieval village, with numerous old courtyard houses. Piazza Santa Margherita is the central square, in front of the church, and is decorated with sculptures by Pinuccio Sciola. The Chiesa Santa Margherita dates from the 18th century and was completed in 1935.
The church houses wooden statues of several saints: Santa Restituta, San Pasquale, San Sebastiano, Santa Margherita “dei sette vestiti,” Sant’Emiliano, San Giuseppe col Bambino and San Francesco Saverio. There is also the Madonna della Candelora with a crown and crowned Child, as well as Santa Margherita with a palm and dragon in the central altar niche. Particularly valuable is a statue of Sant’Antonio da Padova with the Child standing on a book. Alongside its architectural history, the church therefore offers a varied collection of religious wooden sculptures.
The archaeological remains also have their own highlights. Nuraxi Candeu is considered a single-tower nuraghe and is within sight of Su Nuraxi di Barumini. A nuragic well is located near Nuraxi Candeu; it was carved into the rock and reconstructed in the centuries that followed. Its water is still used today in the parish church of Santa Margherita. If you plan to visit Nuraxi Candeu, check access and the monument’s condition in advance.
Water, Sports and Activities
Ilidarab Water Park has two swimming pools, including one with water slides. The 850 m² leisure pool includes a beach area, a children’s pool with water features, a hydromassage area with water fitness and aquagym facilities, and a swimming area. The park also has a solarium, shaded areas near the refreshment facilities, a picnic area, changing rooms, showers and a car park. Depths and some facility details may vary seasonally; before your visit, check which services are available during your travel dates.
For sports, Area Sport offers a green space with a padel court and a five-a-side football pitch. Parco Comunale Baradili adds a playground, a trekking trail, a tennis court, a five-a-side football pitch, a refreshment point and a pizzeria. If you plan to use one of these facilities in particular, check its current availability in advance. The offerings differ considerably: the pools are the main attraction at Ilidarab, while Area Sport and Parco Comunale bring together a range of sports and activities.
Ravioli and Local Festival Traditions
At Baradili’s Sagra dei ravioli, handmade ravioli are distributed with fillings of ricotta and lemon, ricotta and spinach, and potato. The festival has been held annually since 1995, with cultural activities and a focus on promoting local products. Recipes and the programme may change, so check the current events calendar before your trip.
The Sagra de is cruguxionis is scheduled for the Sunday between 13 and 20 July. Check the date for your travel year against the current calendar. This way, when looking for hotels in Baradili, you can factor a time-limited festival into your plans alongside the town’s year-round attractions.
