Discover Netro
Accommodation in Netro
Netro offers several clear starting points when choosing a destination: traces of ironworking, churches from different building periods, as well as a marked walking trail and a mountain bike route through woodland and pastureland. If you are looking for hotels in Netro, these interests can help you decide what you would like to focus on during your stay. First, consider whether you would rather explore collections and architectural history or spend time on the trails.
Ironworking and its traces
The Centro di Documentazione sulla Lavorazione del Ferro preserves more than 1,000 drawings, catalogued documents dating from 1901 to 1964, and historic machines. The collection also includes tools from Officine Rubino, drawings, sample collections and machines that document the development of ironworking. These different types of evidence offer concrete ways into the subject: the drawings, written records and equipment each represent a different form of historical record. This connects local history with the development of a craft without reducing the collection to a single object. Guided tours are available for visitors. If you plan to take a tour, check the arrangements before travelling.
Churches and architectural history
The Pieve o Chiesa Cimiteriale di Santa Maria Assunta is an 11th-century Romanesque church that became a cemetery church in the 16th century. Its façade dates from the original building of the year 1000 and is incorporated into an extension with three naves dating from 1491. There are also three stone apses. The interior contains 15th- and 16th-century frescoes attributed to Domenico della Marca of Ancona. The church therefore offers several distinct architectural and artistic points of interest: the early façade, the later extension and the frescoes, whose attribution is tentative. It is located in Netro’s cemetery and can be reached from the SP 500 via Via Rubino and then Via Oddone. Check local access conditions before your visit.
In the town centre stands the 19th-century Parrocchiale dell’Assunta. A few steps away is the small Baroque Oratorio di S. Rocco. Only a tower remains of Netro Castle; it serves as the oratory’s bell tower. The three architectural details are clearly distinct: the parish church dates from the 19th century, the oratory is Baroque, and the surviving tower is associated with the former castle. Those interested in architecture will find several concrete points of interest here, rather than just a single building period.
Trails, landscape and picnic area
The “IL SENTIERO DEI PE' D'OCA” trail is marked throughout with the white-and-red B12 trail markers and the “Pe d’oca” logo. As the markings may change, check them locally before setting out. A mountain bike route from Netro passes through chestnut and birch woods, as well as meadows and pastures; conditions vary by season. The two descriptions have different points of emphasis: for the walking trail, the continuous markings are a concrete navigational aid; for the mountain bike route, it is the landscape described. The Area attrezzata Masini, an equipped picnic area, is also located above the town centre, in the Carasseie area.
A historic carnival
“Il Carvé ’d Netro” is a historic carnival in Netro. At the 2026 edition, the keys to the town were traditionally handed over by the mayor to the historic masked figures. This information refers to the 2026 edition and makes no statement about future dates. If you would like to plan your trip around an event, check the dates for the edition you intend to attend.
