For a trip to Borgoratto Alessandrino, several specific things to see and do come together: art in the townscape, a public green space in the heart of town, the Big Bench at Chiccovello overlooking Monviso, and the walk there as a possible part of longer cycling or hiking routes.

Art Trail and Town Stops

The Percorso degli Artisti runs through Chiccovello (El Chiquè), where the Big Bench stands, along Via Battisti, past the birthplace of Cino Bozzetti, and back into town to the gates of Villa Ravizza. Along the route are ten depictions of Borgoratto landmarks created by Denise Bistolfi. If you would like to explore art and specific points around town together, you can make the Percorso the thematic focus of your visit.

The Giardino dell'accoglienza

The Giardino dell'accoglienza is a public green space in the heart of Borgoratto. The Muro dell'accoglienza bounds the garden entrance and was designed by Lele Gastini in his distinctive style, with references to nature, art and sociability. Unlike the Percorso, which connects several stops, the focus here is on a central green space and the design of its entrance. This gives you a clear choice between a single place in the heart of Borgoratto and a route through several named locations.

The Panchina degli Artisti

The Panchina degli Artisti was designed by American designer Chris Bangle and built in its entirety by Borgoratto residents Marino Ferasin, Gianni Massobrio and Filippo Oddone. The design and construction can therefore be clearly distinguished: Bangle designed the bench, and the three residents built it in its entirety. This makes both the design authorship and the local contribution to its construction clear.

Big Bench and Routes

The Big Bench degli Artisti stands at Chiccovello and offers a view of Monviso. The walk there can be part of longer cycling or hiking routes for trekking enthusiasts, cyclists and those who enjoy walks in the countryside. Beside the Bike Point is the Albergo diurno, dedicated to cyclists and hikers, with toilets, showers, changing rooms and lockers. For planning your day, the two places serve different purposes: Chiccovello is the viewpoint, while the Albergo is a specific service point for cyclists and hikers.

Sagra degli Gnocchi

The Sagra degli Gnocchi adds a culinary dimension to the things to see and do. The 2022 edition celebrated its 20th year. For the 2024 edition, volunteers from Pro Loco di Borgoratto Alessandrino prepared the dishes by hand using traditional recipes. If the festival is important to your stay, check the event dates in advance.

The different ways to explore are easy to distinguish when choosing what to focus on: the Percorso combines art with a route through town, the Giardino offers a central green space with a designed entrance wall, and the Big Bench is all about the view of Monviso. Plan your day according to whether a route, a central location or the view matters most to you.
