Discover San Damiano Al Colle
Accommodation in San Damiano Al Colle
San Damiano al Colle is a small town with numerous hamlets scattered across the hills. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to the Oltrepò Pavese, you can get a sense of the destination from its wine offerings, rolling hills and local history.
Rolling Hills and Vineyards
San Damiano al Colle is situated on a ridge more than 200 m high in the Oltrepò Pavese. Roads wind through landscapes lined with vineyards. The location offers views of the Bardonezza stream and the border with the province of Piacenza; from the panoramic viewpoint, you can also enjoy an impressive view of Rovescala. The ridge, scattered hamlets and vineyards each offer a different glimpse of the rural surroundings.
Guided Visits to Wineries
At Azienda Agricola Brandolini, guided tours of the vineyards and winery followed by a tasting of wines and sparkling wines are available on request. You must contact the winery in advance to arrange these visits. The tasting room can accommodate up to 25 people; check its availability before your visit.
Azienda Bagnoli offers guided wine tastings and vineyard tours from its reception area. Confirm the booking arrangements before your visit. The type of visit is one practical difference between the two offerings: Brandolini combines tours of the vineyards and winery with a tasting afterwards; Bagnoli offers guided tastings and vineyard tours from its reception area.
Winegrowing and Harvest
Azienda Agricola Brandolini has been operating since 1873 and has always been based in the municipality of San Damiano al Colle (PV), where most of its vineyards are located. Azienda Bagnoli’s vineyards extend across the municipalities of San Damiano al Colle and Montù Beccaria. At Azienda Bagnoli, the grape harvest takes place every year between August and October and is carried out entirely by hand.
Rassegna dei Vini 2026
The traditional Rassegna dei Vini 2026 is a four-day event featuring live music, DJ sets, orchestras and traditional cuisine. On each evening of the event, a food stall serves dishes from the Oltrepò’s culinary tradition. If the event is part of your travel plans, check the exact dates and programme in advance.
Local History and Mondonico
San Damiano al Colle is recorded as “Sanctus Damianus” in 1452 in the “Statuta stratarum” for the area of Ultra Padum. Opposite Borgo San Damiano, Mondonico lies at the entrance to the Rio Marsinola valley. There you will find a church and a private house that was once the town’s old castle. The 1452 record refers to the town’s name; the former castle is associated with the private house in Mondonico.
