Agrate Brianza: Culture, Architecture and Green Spaces
Accommodation in Agrate Brianza
If you’re looking for a hotel in Agrate Brianza, you can plan your stay around specific interests: villa and church architecture, green spaces, nature watching or physical activity. The local attractions vary considerably, from villas and religious artworks to parks with a lake, play areas and sports facilities. This makes it easy to choose the focus of your stay based on the features that interest you most.
Villas, Churches and Art
Villa Schira Corneliani has a late Baroque character and features an ornate Baroque-style wrought-iron balcony. These are two distinct aspects of the complex: the villa’s architectural style and the design of a single architectural feature. The municipal public library is housed in the southern courtyard and the surrounding buildings. Architecture and civic use exist side by side here.
The churches also offer specific artistic highlights. In 1975, the Chiesa S. Zenone received six Stations of the Cross by Alfredo Vismara, a sculptor from Agrate. The current Chiesa S. Eusebio contains frescoes painted by the “Beato Angelico” School in Milan. The two examples differ both in the type of artwork and in their creators: one features Stations of the Cross by a sculptor from Agrate, while the other has frescoes by a Milanese school.
At Villa Trivulzio, the building’s layout takes centre stage. Giovanni Ruggeri designed the villa. Two symmetrical, two-storey wings are joined by a portico with seven arches. The number of arches and the arrangement of the wings give the building a clearly defined architectural structure. Together with Villa Schira Corneliani, Villa Trivulzio offers another distinct perspective on architecture.
Parks, Nature and Outdoor Activities
At 110,000 square metres, Parco Aldo Moro is the largest park in the municipality. Its features include an artificial lake and a fitness and calisthenics area. The Hillpark Skate Park is also located in the park and is suitable for both beginners and experienced skaters. The different facilities are easy to distinguish: the lake is a feature in its own right, while the fitness area and skate park focus on physical activity.
Oasi Volano offers a different perspective. More than 150 bird species have been observed there over the years. In 2014, the oasis was included within the boundaries of Parco del Molgora. The species count refers to observations made over the years; its inclusion in the park describes a separate spatial relationship. Nature enthusiasts will therefore find a different focus here from the sports and leisure facilities at Parco Aldo Moro.
The Giardini di Villa D’Adda cover 4,000 square metres between Piazza Sant’Eusebio and Via Ugo Foscolo. The grounds include two play areas for children and young people. They also have an underground car park with 50 spaces, available free of charge. The names of the street and piazza provide a precise indication of their location; the play areas and car park are other distinct features of the gardens.
The size of each green space also helps with comparison: Parco Aldo Moro covers 110,000 square metres, while the Giardini di Villa D’Adda cover 4,000. The two parks therefore differ considerably in scale. When looking for hotels in Agrate Brianza, you can consider these differences and the features of each place to decide which aspects matter most for your stay.
