When looking for a hotel in Trezzone, a simple question can help guide your choice: Would you like your trip to focus mainly on mountain and lake views, historic routes, or the character of the village? In Trezzone, these themes come together. The Via Regina, the stretch of the Via dei Monti Lariani, and the historic buildings each offer a different perspective. When planning your trip, you can first decide which side of the village you would like to get to know better.

Mountain setting and lake views

Trezzone lies in the mountains of Sorico, between the slopes of Pizzo Sasso Canale and the Valle di Gera. The village offers panoramic views of Alto Lario and the surrounding mountains. Lake views are also part of the trail experience along the stretch of the Via dei Monti Lariani that passes through the Monti di Trezzone. This section is marked in white and red. The mountain landscape and lake views are therefore relevant both for finding your way around the area and for choosing the focus of your trip.

Routes with different characters

The Via Regina runs from Gera Lario to Domaso, passing through Vercana and Trezzone. It reaches Aurogna, a hamlet of Trezzone. Along the route, paths, paved mule tracks and asphalt roads alternate; some sections also run along local streets. Both the route and its varied surfaces are therefore worth considering when getting a sense of the trail.

The stretch of the Via dei Monti Lariani that passes through the Monti di Trezzone has a different emphasis: lake views and white-and-red trail markings define its character. Another trail belongs to the Monti di Vercana route: it is old, partly paved and leads through Trezzone to Gera Lario. The routes can be distinguished by their different features without conflating their paths into a single trail.

Historic village and architectural history

The historic centre of Trezzone is largely preserved. It includes stone houses, buildings spanning the lanes and steep stairways. Underpasses and paved lanes branch off the Via Regina, adding further architectural features to the village. Aurogna, a hamlet of Trezzone, has also retained its historic layout: tall stone houses, buildings spanning the lanes, wall frescoes and narrow paved lanes characterise the hamlet. The centre and the hamlet offer different points of interest if you are curious about architecture and the village’s historic layout.

The Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie was built in the 15th century. The Chiesa di S. Maria delle Grazie complex comprises the church and its bell tower. The church also preserves Baroque elements created thanks to the generosity of emigrants to Palermo. This building thus brings together a long architectural history and a direct connection to emigration from Trezzone.

The veneration of Santa Rosalia is also part of the village’s cultural history. Emigrants from Trezzone who went to Palermo between the 16th and 19th centuries brought the saint’s cult to the village. This historic connection adds another dimension to the church’s architectural history and to the ties between Trezzone and Palermo.

Community event

An annual pizzoccherata is part of the local tradition. Trezzone holds it as a community event. The festival offers another glimpse of local life, alongside the routes, mountain scenery and historic buildings.
