Discover Passirano: churches, vineyards and trails
Accommodation in Passirano
Passirano lies in the heart of Franciacorta, amid green countryside, gentle hills and orderly vineyards. Several specific interests come together when choosing this destination: religious buildings with medieval and later features, routes for different ways of getting around, and farms offering cellar visits and wine tastings. The railway connection is also worth considering when deciding whether to stay in Passirano.
Churches and local history
The chapel at Palazzo Zani is dedicated to Saint Andrew and was built in an 18th-century style as a family chapel. Its purpose differs from that of the Chiesa Parrocchiale di S. Zenone, Passirano’s first parish church, which dates back to the Middle Ages.
On the east side of S. Zenone is a loggia with six arches; 52 votive offerings are dedicated to the local cult of the “Madonna dell’Abito.” The church also contains an 18th-century altarpiece attributed to Sante Cattaneo. A loggia is a covered area open to the outside, rather than an enclosed interior space.
Routes and outdoor experiences
The “3 Passi” project offers three routes—“Primo Passo,” “Buon Passo” and “Gran Passo”—for discovering Passirano and its surrounding area. You can take all three routes on foot, by bike, with a stroller or running. When choosing, you can therefore consider both the route name and your preferred way of getting around.
The “Anello Borghi rurali di Rodengo Saiano” circular route is listed as 10 km long. At Passirano, it rejoins the main route.
You can also include an exterior view of Castello di Passirano in a walk or a tour through the vineyards. The privately owned castle is not open to visitors inside; you can view it from the outside on a walk or vineyard tour.
Wine tastings and planning your stay
Wine shapes Passirano’s landscape and is also a reason to visit: seven farms can be explored through cellar visits and wine tastings. If a tasting is an essential part of your trip, confirm in advance whether a visit is available on your chosen date. This lets you experience the town’s connection to wine both through its vineyards and through a planned visit.
Getting there by train
Passirano is served by Trenord’s regional Brescia–Iseo–Edolo railway line. The station is a 20-minute walk from the town centre. If you’re arriving by train, allow time for the walk to the town centre and check the timetable before travelling.
