Accommodation in Beverino
Beverino combines a distinctive settlement location with a layered local history. The fortified village stands on a hill above the confluence of the Graveglia stream and the Vara; the settlement center has retained its original appearance. Historically, Beverino was a small fortress guarding the main routes toward the middle valley. Its location and former defensive function give the village two distinct historical points of reference: the preserved form of its center and its role in the valley’s transport network. If you are interested in historic village settings, Beverino’s traces lead both to the settlement’s layout and to individual churches and chapels.
Churches and Architectural History
The parish church of Santa Croce was probably Romanesque and was extensively remodeled around 1600. Two phases should be distinguished in its dating: its Romanesque origins are probable, while the extensive remodeling took place around 1600. The affiliated church of San Cipriano is a 13th-century building. The Chapel of San Cipriano, an outbuilding of the Pieve di San Prospero di Vezzano, is partly covered at its base by alluvial deposits from the Graveglia stream.
A chapel dedicated to Santa Croce, known as an oratory, dates from approximately the 13th century. Some of the original interior frescoes are still visible in the former church of San Maurizio. The church of San Remigio lies on the former road between Ceparana and Padivarma; its current building dates from the 16th century. San Lorenzo also brings together different periods: a building from the 18th century preserves the remains of the medieval church of San Lorenzo. The local buildings therefore reflect different historical periods—from origins dated approximately to later renovations and surviving older remains.

Tours in Val di Vara
For mountain biking enthusiasts, an MTB itinerary in Val di Vara runs from San Cipriano via Monte Memola. Another route description comes from a completed park-based active tourism project: the route described there in Val di Vara starts in Pian di Beverino at Strada dei Tedeschi. The two descriptions differ in their locations: the MTB itinerary names San Cipriano and the route via Monte Memola, while the route from the completed project names Pian di Beverino and Strada dei Tedeschi.
The terrain and availability of the MTB itinerary may change; conditions on the other route may also change. Check the current situation before setting out. These descriptions provide two different starting points for planning, without combining the routes into a single itinerary.
