Campo di Carne offers several points of interest to consider when planning a trip: Meatfield Town, with its accessible set buildings; a railway overpass of historical significance; and the “Il Graffio della Vita” monument. Also on offer for 2026 is the “Attore per un Giorno” experience. If you’re looking for a hotel in Campo di Carne, you might consider whether you’d rather focus on the staged experience or the area’s history.
Meatfield Town and the advertised experience
Meatfield Town is located at Via Pantanelle 104 in Campo di Carne and covers a total area of 4,000 m². Its buildings are accessible, furnished, and designed as sets; they are more than just façades. This makes the site more than a series of exterior views: the furnished buildings are also part of its design.
The “Attore per un Giorno” experience advertised for 2026 combines the Western era with a role of their own for participants. They are provided with make-up, hairstyling, costumes, and accessories, given a specially developed role, and accompanied by staff. They receive a short film within a few days. A reservation is required to take part; check the dates before your trip.
The railway overpass in its historical context
The Campo di Carne railway overpass is regarded as a symbol of the battle fought there; it is also referred to as the “Flyover” and “Overpass.” From the first hours of the Allied landing, it was at the center of the fighting. Its embankments provided protection from German artillery. During the German counteroffensive “Fishfang” from February 16 to 22, the overpass formed the final line of defense of the bridgehead.
The battlefield of the Battle of Aprilia extended from Campo di Carne to Campoleone. The overpass is therefore one historical point of reference within a larger area described as a battlefield. This distinction helps separate the role of the structure from the geographical extent of the battle.
Another memorial site is the “Il Graffio della Vita” monument in Campo di Carne. The monument was inaugurated in 2011 to commemorate the sacrifice of more than 50,000 soldiers.
