Solfara Mare: Beach and AcquaPark Odissea 2000
Accommodation in Solfara Mare
When looking for hotels in Solfara Mare, it helps to clarify your travel priorities: Spiaggia di Fossa-Solfara Mare, AcquaPark Odissea 2000, or getting there. At the beach, the shoreline and seabed matter; at the water park, the attractions differ in shape and size. Road and rail also offer different ways to get there.
Beach at Spiaggia di Fossa-Solfara Mare
The shore at Spiaggia di Fossa-Solfara Mare consists of a mixture of sand and pebbles. The seabed is a separate feature: it slopes gradually toward the open sea. These two characteristics therefore describe different parts of the coast—the ground at the shore and the contours underwater. The sea is considered clear and crystal-clear; water conditions can vary seasonally.
AcquaPark Odissea 2000: comparing water attractions
AcquaPark Odissea 2000 is located in Contrada Zolfara, within the Villaggio Nausicaa holiday resort complex, in the municipality of Fossa-Solfara Mare in the province of Cosenza, Calabria. The park offers numerous swimming pools and water attractions for families and more adventurous visitors.
The individual attractions differ in both shape and stated dimensions. According to the operator’s description, The Big Olimpo is a 163-metre-long water roller coaster ridden on an inflatable tube; its length and design may differ if the attraction is changed. According to the operator’s description, the Black Polifemo spiral slides are 190 metres long in total; the stated overall length may change if the attraction is modified. Chimera is described as Italy’s first multi-lane water slide ridden headfirst; Skyron Rocket as Italy’s first looping rocket slide.
An important rule for children
Children up to 125 cm tall may use only the attractions in the baby area and on Isola di Galatea at AcquaPark. Check this restriction before your visit, as it is a current operator rule.
Getting there by road and rail
For the road journey, take the Sibari exit and the motorway link road to the S.S. 106 jonica toward Rossano. Take the Loc. Zolfara–C.da Toscano exit, about 2 km after the Rossano exit. Roads and signage may change; check the current route before setting off.
Odissea 2000 offers a free shuttle to and from Toscano Station. It waits in front of the station when each train arrives; from the park, it departs 30 minutes before each train departure. Check the current train schedules to make sure your arrival and return journey fit your travel plans.
