Montesilvano can be planned from two perspectives: along the Adriatic coast and from the hills above the town. Sandy beaches, seaside promenades and stretches of open beach shape a stay by the sea; viewpoints and walking paths turn your gaze toward the coast and hinterland. If you’re looking for a hotel in Montesilvano, you can first decide which of these experiences you want to shape your trip. The following places and activities show how to work beach days, nature watching and cultural stops into your travel plans.

Beach and coast

Montesilvano offers eight kilometers of sandy beach, as well as beach clubs, free beaches and seaside promenades. When planning your visit, you can decide whether a beach club, a free beach or the seaside promenade will be your main focus. For the 2026 bathing season, the municipality provided two fully equipped public beaches with accessibility features.

Views, hills and nature

For views across several layers of landscape, visit the Colle della Vecchia viewpoint. From there, the 360-degree panorama takes in the Adriatic, the seafront promenade, Pescara and the Abruzzo mountains of Gran Sasso, Maiella, Morrone and Monti della Laga. The mouth of the Saline River offers a different perspective: it is of botanical and ornithological interest and is well suited to observing the natural coastal landscape. If you’d like to include a nature-watching experience in your trip, it offers a distinct focus alongside the beach and the views.

The hills above Montesilvano offer easy walking paths with sea views and connect the coast, villages and inland countryside. Here, the focus is on walking through varied landscapes; at Colle della Vecchia, it’s the all-round view from the viewpoint. You can choose between a walk along the hills and a panorama that takes in the coast, town and mountains together.

Architecture and art

The Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo is located at the most scenic point in Montesilvano Colle. Based on architectural and historical considerations, it can be dated to the beginning of the 13th century; no conclusive documents support this dating. It therefore remains a reasoned estimate rather than a date confirmed by documentary evidence.

The former Colonia Stella Maris reveals another facet of architectural history. Architect Francesco Leoni designed the building in 1936 in the Rationalist style, with strong Futurist influences. Its floor plan resembles an airplane. Since 2021, the Pulpa Festival has transformed Montesilvano into an open-air gallery of street art and urban art. While the Colonia Stella Maris represents a design from 1936, the festival brings an artistic dimension to the town through urban art.

Train station, museum and seaside walks

Montesilvano station is served by regional trains on the Adriatic railway line. The journey to Pescara Centrale usually takes six to eight minutes by regional train. If you’re planning to take this connection, check the current timetable before departure. The Museo del Treno is also located inside Montesilvano station and is free to visit on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Check the opening information again before your visit.

The Pontile di Via Finlandia is a wooden pier that extends into the Adriatic from the Aldo Moro seafront promenade, level with Via Finlandia. It has been fully accessible since 2021; check local conditions in advance before visiting. The pier is ideal for panoramic walks and sunset photography. It complements the views from Colle della Vecchia with a perspective from the sea, although the two do not form part of a single walking route.
