For a trip to Jobbágyi, two distinct highlights stand out: the hiking trail from the eastern edge of the village to Nagy-hársas, and the Baroque church in the village. The wider destination of Neuburg offers additional cultural and natural attractions to complement this local selection.

Hiking Trail and Landscape at Nagy-hársas

The Jobbágyi–Nagy-hársas Forest Nature Trail begins at the eastern edge of Jobbágyi and follows a footpath to the 509-meter-high summit of Nagy-hársas. The return follows the same path. The route is therefore an out-and-back trail, not a loop; when planning the hike, make sure to account for retracing the same route.

At the summit of Nagy-hársas, near Jobbágyi, a geodetic surveying tower now serves as an observation tower. In the area around Jobbágyi, heat-loving oak woodland grows on Nagy-hársas above silicate rocky grassland and rocky scrub. This natural attraction thus encompasses both the distinctive summit and the varied habitats on its slopes. The hiking trail and the vegetation describe different aspects of Nagy-hársas: the trail leads to the summit and back, while the landscape is shaped by its succession of rocky sites and oak woodland.

Architectural History in Jobbágyi

The Szent-György Church in Jobbágyi is a Baroque church dating from the late 18th century. A medieval building was reused in its construction. This gives the church a history spanning two periods: a Baroque church incorporating older building fabric. Unlike the natural attractions of Nagy-hársas, the focus here is on the architectural history of a building in the village.

Cultural and Natural Attractions in the Wider Destination of Neuburg

Hollókő is a Palóc settlement in Nógrád County in northern Hungary. The old village is considered a deliberately preserved, living example of rural life before the 20th-century agricultural revolution. Hollókő therefore centers on a preserved settlement, while the Szent-György Church in Jobbágyi tells the story of the architectural history of a single building. In Csesztve, the Madách Imre Memorial House has a permanent exhibition on the history of the Madách family, focusing on The Tragedy of Man. The park of the Madách Mansion in Csesztve is a protected natural area where visitors can stroll and relax.

In Pásztó, the museum is housed in a Baroque Cistercian monastery building rebuilt in 1717–1718; it features permanent and temporary exhibitions. The museum presents a medieval glassworks and blacksmith’s workshop as an open-air exhibition and as a unique industrial heritage monument in Hungary. The Boszorkány-kő nature trail in the Karancs-Medves Landscape Protection Area offers a geological focus. Established in 1989, the protected area currently covers 6,928.6 hectares; the trail illustrates basalt volcanism from 2.4 to 5.2 million years ago and features, among other things, sediment inclusions, curved lava slabs, and basalt columns formed by weathering.
