Tiszanána: Waterscapes and Local History
Accommodation in Tiszanána
Tiszanána brings together the waterscape around Dinnyéshát, the Reformed Church, and the history of a decision to build a cemetery chapel. The following features offer different points of reference for planning a stay.
Beach and Water in Dinnyéshát
Álompart Beach is in the Dinnyéshát district, below the flood-protection embankment in a sheltered bay. The shore is sandy; the water is calm and gradually deepens. Kayaks and pedal boats are available for rent in the beach area. Availability may vary by season. If renting is important for your trip, check availability for your dates. This lets you consider the beach conditions and a possible water activity as two separate points in your plans.
A small lookout point on the main branch of the Tisza offers views of the harbor, beach, river, and passing boats. This offers a different perspective from a tour: here, the focus is on the river landscape and activity on the water, while a tour puts the journey on the water itself at the forefront.
Water Tours and Ferry Crossing
Tiszanána-Dinnyéshát serves as a starting point for exploring the Abádszalók Basin by water. Route information published in August 2025 gives distances ranging from about 12 to 14 kilometers to about 20 kilometers. Dinnyéshát is also described as a possible starting point for half-day and full-day tours. Distance and duration offer different points of reference: you can first consider what distance might suit you and how much time you would like to spend on the water. Route conditions and seasonal access may vary, so check these details before making plans.
In 2024, the ferry crossing between Tiszaderzs and Tiszanána was reported to cover about five kilometers and take around half an hour. The duration may vary with operating conditions. If the crossing is part of your plans, check the schedule in advance.
The protected areas of Lake Tisza are subject to strict nature conservation, water management, and fishing regulations. If you plan an activity there, take these areas into account and check the regulations currently in force.
Church and Local History
Today’s Reformed Church in Tiszanána was built in the Baroque style in 1752. Its west tower is 31 meters high; the main façade and tower have been completely restored. The construction date, architectural style, and tower height provide concrete historical and architectural points of reference for the church.
Another historical point of reference is the decision by brothers János and Ferenc Balla to build a chapel in the village cemetery in memory of their brother József.
In the Wider Heves Destination
In the wider Heves destination, the Hevesi Füves Puszták Landscape Protection Area offers a distinct focus on the region’s landscape. The area lies in the southern part of Heves County and covers 16,114 hectares. It was designated in 1993 and reached its present extent after expansions in 2005 and 2008. This regional context adds another perspective on protected landscapes to Tiszanána’s water and local history.
