Aldershot brings together themes that can shape a stay in different ways: the town’s history, military history, music and trails through nature areas. If you’re looking for a hotel in Aldershot, you could start by considering whether historical sites, performances or outdoor activities are of particular interest to you during your stay.

Town history, music and architecture

The Aldershot Heritage Trails tell the story of the town from 1850, when Aldershot was still a small village. There are six original trails: Marlborough, Stanhope, Wellington, Redan, Town and Village. The musical Aldershot Mixtape Trail takes you through the centre of Aldershot and offers a different thematic focus. This lets you choose between a trail linked to the town’s history and a music-themed route through the centre.

The Aldershot Military Conservation Area offers another historical perspective. It is designated as an area of special architectural or historic interest. This means that, alongside the story of the town’s development, architecture and military history are also distinct themes for a stay in Aldershot.

Redan Hill and the military museum

Redan Hill was one of the first field forts built in Aldershot and was used for training until the 1860s. The area around Redan Hill is maintained for recreation. On the hill is an exact replica of an 1848 32-pounder cannon with its carriage.

The Aldershot Military Museum is housed in the only surviving brick barrack blocks in Aldershot. It displays tanks, armoured personnel carriers and other military vehicles. The museum also has an obstacle course inspired by the Second World War era.

Performances at Princes Hall

Princes Hall hosts more than 50 professional performances each year. This adds a programme of stage performances to the historical themes. As programme details may change, check the current schedule before visiting.

At Aldershot Park, the lake is the home of the Aldershot Park Angling Club. The club welcomes beginners, young people and people with disabilities, as well as more experienced anglers.
