Tensfeld offers two distinct highlights for a stay: trails through moorland and floodplain landscapes, and motorsports. Would you rather spend your time hiking and birdwatching, or is a motorsports course or event the main focus? The local trails start at the Tensfeld community centre; the MCE-Tensfeld facility is another clearly distinct point of interest.

Moorland and floodplain routes

The Tarbeker Moor Loop is 8.09 kilometres long and starts at the Tensfeld community centre. This circular route goes around a restored moorland complex. Its rewetting began in 1991 with the damming of the Tensfelder Au; the moorland vegetation provides a habitat for many animal species. The tour therefore offers both a clearly specified route length and a chance to see how the landscape has developed. The Tensfeld Moor is considered an example of an original moorland landscape with rare flora and fauna, and is important for climate protection. Cranes have also returned to Tensfeld’s moorland and the surrounding areas.

The Tensfelder Au Circular Route also starts at the community centre. It follows the Tensfelder Au through meadows, fields and small woods, and is suitable for birdwatching. Both tours therefore share a starting point but have different focuses: the Tarbeker Moor Loop goes around the restored moorland complex, while the Tensfelder Au Circular Route focuses on the floodplain landscape and birdwatching. The distance of 8.09 kilometres applies only to the Tarbeker Moor Loop.

The Tarbeker Moor Loop is currently not marked on site and is documented digitally; following the route description is recommended. The Tensfelder Au Circular Route is also documented digitally and is not marked on site. Before setting off, check the latest navigation information and use the description for your chosen route.

Motorsports in Tensfeld

The MCE-Tensfeld facility includes a motocross track with deep sand and a separate children’s track. As a location for the ADAC MX Academy, Tensfeld offers taster courses as well as an advanced course for young motocross riders. The programme therefore includes both an introductory course and a more advanced course format for young riders. If a course is the reason for your trip, check the latest listings: Academy offerings may change over time.

General practice days are for enduro, motocross and quad riders. The venue also hosts events, including the ADAC MX Masters. When planning, you can therefore distinguish between practice for a particular riding discipline and a motorsports event. Practice availability depends on the schedule and operating conditions; event calendars may also change. If a particular date is essential to your trip, check the latest information before planning your overnight stay.

Hiking pass and travel planning

Hiking Pass #2 also covers the nature park communities of Stocksee, Damsdorf, Tensfeld, Seedorf, Wensin and Glasau. While the Tarbeker Moor Loop and the Tensfelder Au Circular Route specify particular starting points and landscapes in Tensfeld, the hiking pass connects several communities within a broader hiking area. This lets you distinguish between the two local circular routes and this wider regional connection.
