Discover Rickling
Accommodation in Rickling
Rickling offers a range of options for planning a trip, from outdoor activities, local history and leisure facilities to travelling by train or bus.
Cycling and hiking trails
Rickling and the district of Fehrenbötel are located on the Naturparkweg. This 118-kilometre long-distance hiking trail connects nature parks in the inland region with Holstein Switzerland. Cycling offers different points of interest: the Rickling cycling tour has a 34-kilometre basic route, which can be extended with optional detours to sights and places of interest. The Mönchsweg passes around Rickling and by historic fieldstone and brick churches in the surrounding area. This lets you distinguish a cycling route with a specified distance and optional variations from a route that takes in churches in the surrounding area.
The landscape offers different attractions, too. NeumĂĽnster Forest lies north of Rickling and is considered suitable for walks. The RothenmĂĽhlenau is a river about 12 kilometres long that flows past Rickling to the south through open fields. If you would rather factor woodland or open countryside into your trip planning, these offer two different points of interest.
Outdoor Pool and Leisure
Rickling outdoor pool has a heated swimming pool, a non-swimmer pool and a baby pool. There is also a diving tower with one- and three-metre boards. The outdoor pool grounds also include a playground and areas for football and volleyball. A kiosk serves food, sweets and drinks; free parking is also available at the pool. The grounds thus offer swimming facilities alongside other leisure activities.
Local History and Sightseeing
Construction of the village church began in 1906, and it was consecrated on 17 February 1908. The church was extensively renovated for its centenary. It has been a listed building since December 2008. The timeline runs from the start of construction, through the consecration, to its later protected status.
Ricklingerdamm was built in 1818 as a stagecoach station. The poet Theodor Storm is said to have stayed there several times in the 1840s and 1850s. An earth bunker dating from 1904 is located next to Rickling station. It was used to store petroleum for lighting railway signals and vehicles.
Ricklinger Landbrauerei offers professional tours of its brewery museum. It also regularly hosts brunches, breakfasts, buffets and barbecue events. If you would like to include one of these offerings in your trip plans, check the current dates in advance.
Getting There and Trip Planning
Rickling is served by the RB82 railway line between Bad Oldesloe and NeumĂĽnster; bicycle parking is available at the station. Bus routes connect Rickling with Bad Segeberg, NeumĂĽnster and the surrounding communities. Check the timetable for specific departure times. Bus routes and journey times may change. If you are planning to travel by bicycle, the parking spaces at the station and the 34-kilometre basic route are two separate considerations: one relates to travelling by train, the other to your planned cycling tour.
If you are interested in local history or events, the church, Ricklingerdamm and the brewery's event dates may shape your plans. Add the timetables relevant to your journey to your selection.
