Amtsberg Between Nature and Local History
Accommodation in Amtsberg
Amtsberg lies at the foot of the Ore Mountains, between the rivers Zwönitz and Zschopau. Its villages retain a rural character and are shaped by meadows and forests. When planning your trip, the area offers seasonal natural attractions, viewpoints, hiking and cycling routes, and local history. If you are planning a trip to Amtsberg, you can decide what to focus on: early spring blossoms, local history, or trails through forests and valleys.
Scenery and Early Blossoms
One prominent landmark is Dittersdorfer Höhe: at 553 metres, it is Amtsberg’s highest viewpoint. Another seasonal highlight is the crocus meadows in Schlößchen. A distinctive subspecies of wild crocus grows across around two hectares, creating a dense carpet of blue blossoms in early spring. If seeing the crocuses in bloom is important to you, plan your trip for early spring. Dittersdorfer Höhe offers a separate highlight as a viewpoint.
Local History and Culture
The Historical Circular Trail introduces the development of industry, trade, hospitality and public institutions in Dittersdorf, Weißbach and Schlößchen/Wilischthal. Information boards accompany around 90 buildings and sites, including churches, schools, public institutions, and industrial and commercial locations. The circular trail combines walks through green landscapes with local history. There are places to stop for refreshments along the routes. If taking a break is important to your day’s plans, check what is currently available; individual places to stop may change.
Events are also held in the village churches of Dittersdorf and Weißbach. If you would like to attend an event, check the specific date before your trip. At Mini-Weißbach, models at a scale of 1:10 depict historically significant buildings from the Ore Mountains that stand in Weißbach today or once stood there. Mini-Weißbach is also the starting point for the Weißbach Pyramid and Nativity Scene Trail.
Hiking and Cycling Routes by Interest
The circular trail from Villa Wilisch starts at Villa Wilisch in Amtsberg and leads through beech forest to the Hans Weber Kanzel and on to the Affenstein viewpoint. A circular route from Dittersdorf runs along the Schwarzer Weg to the Einsiedler Reservoir. In the Zwönitz Valley, a nature trail runs between Dittersdorf and Kemtau. The routes have different focuses: beech forest and viewpoints, the reservoir, or the valley.
For cycling trips, routes from Weißbach or Schlößchen follow the Wilischradweg towards Gelenau and continue to Herold and Thum. These places offer a different point of reference for the ride than the destinations and landscapes described for the hiking routes.
Dittersdorf Outdoor Pool
Dittersdorf Outdoor Pool has a 50-by-25-metre swimming pool with a diving board, as well as a 20-by-25-metre non-swimmers’ area. It also has a 44-metre-long water slide. Other facilities include beach volleyball, a children’s playground, table tennis, chess, a football pitch, a kiosk and a restaurant. Opening hours, operating details and individual offerings may change; check the latest information before your visit. This lets you plan a visit to the outdoor pool as a separate focus alongside hiking, local history and the seasonal crocus bloom.
