Guntersblum brings together historic sites, winegrowing, and routes through floodplain and vineyard landscapes. This gives you several ways to shape your trip: explore the town’s history, learn about grape varieties and wine cellars, or look into hiking and cycling routes.

Historic Sites and Museums

Guntersblum’s historic attractions include the Protestant church, the Old Castle and New Castle, several former aristocratic or ecclesiastical estates, the Julianenbrunnen fountain, and the Kellerweg. The Protestant church preserves architectural and decorative details from several centuries: its north tower dates from around 1100, while the south tower was rebuilt around 1840 after collapsing in 1702. Inside, you’ll find a tympanum from around 1200, a baptismal font with a lion motif dating to about 1490, and an organ case from 1765.

The Cultural Association’s museum is located on the Kellerweg and features changing exhibitions on the town’s history, its residents, and life in earlier times. The privately run Haus der Steine museum explores a different subject: forms of silica, with displays of quartz, agates, opals, petrified wood, and fossil corals. The town thus offers different perspectives, from architectural and local history to minerals and fossils.

The Jewish cemetery is one of the oldest between Worms and Mainz and was first documented in 1736. It is accessible by request. The key is available during the museum’s stated opening hours on Sundays and public holidays. Confirm access before your arrival.

The RheinTerrassenWeg runs between Worms and Mainz and offers views of Rheinhessen’s winegrowing villages. Cyclists can join the long-distance Veloroute Rhein in Guntersblum, which runs close to the Rhine from Basel to Mainz.

Guided cycling tours through the Rheinhessen hills follow both paved and unpaved routes. Along the way, you can enjoy the views and learn about the region and its towns. Guided herb walks in Guntersblum focus on a different subject, showing you what plants look like, where they grow, and how they are used in cooking and traditional medicine. A signposted access route to the RheinTerrassenWeg leads train travelers from the station via MĂĽhlstraĂźe, Am Weiberdeich, and Kellerweg.

Winegrowing and the Kellerweg

Signposted wine trails in Guntersblum’s vineyards introduce locally grown grape varieties; seasonal tastings are available in autumn. Guided walks through the vineyards or a wine cellar also include a tasting of local wines. The Kellerweg connects historic winegrowing with its present-day use: former wine presses line the route, and some old cellars are still used for wine production.

During the Kellerweg Festival, the cellar doors open and the Kellerweg becomes a street for wine and food. Dates and access are seasonal. Another special feature is the Guntersblumer Steig-Terrassen wine-growing site. Its terrain is terraced, and its location is hot and dry; the wines are considered ripe and spicy. Check the festival dates and access arrangements in advance when planning your visit.
