Lette brings together a listed church, a Bible Garden right beside it and a longer Bible Path. The garden is the first stop on the approximately 25-kilometre route, which leads via Clarholz/Möhler and northern Oelde back to Lette. The path can easily be completed in one go by bicycle. For planning purposes, you can therefore choose between visiting the garden as a single stop and following the entire route.

St. Vitus Church and local history

St. Vitus Church in Lette is open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. In winter, it closes as early as 4 p.m. because of the darkness. It is a listed building and was built as a collegiate church in the 13th century; it was first mentioned as a parish church in 1251. Originally, it was a collegiate church of the Premonstratensian convent in Lette; at times, it was a double monastery for men and women.

The Lette Bible Garden and Bible Path

The Lette Bible Garden is right beside St. Vitus Church. Plants mentioned in the Bible grow here, and the garden invites visitors to linger and reflect. As the first stop on the Bible Path, it is also the starting point. The 27 stops connect Bible verses, prayers and reflective questions with existing wayside crosses, statues of the Virgin Mary, chapels and churches.

A wayside-cross symbol marks the Bible Path at every turn. From the garden, the approximately 25-kilometre route leads via Clarholz/Möhler and northern Oelde back to Lette. Its length and route make the path an itinerary that extends beyond the garden as a single place to visit. It can easily be completed in one go by bicycle.

Music, landmarks and landscape

Church music has a long-standing tradition in Lette. The Feast of St. Vitus, the patron saint, has been given a special musical celebration there since 1832. The Lette Mill is also part of the local scene: it is a landmark of Lette and, together with the tower of St. Vitus, shapes the town’s appearance. Woods and meadows surround Lette, complementing these distinctive buildings with their natural setting.
