Allagen: Hiking and Views
Accommodation in Allagen
When choosing a hotel in Allagen, you can take your plans for hiking and enjoying the views into account. Two distinct points of reference are the 6.1-kilometre circular hike in Allagen and the Skywalk Möhnetal, which is associated with Allagen and Niederbergheim. The circular route passes through the valley, fields and neighbouring districts; at the Skywalk, the focus is on views across the Möhne Valley. Warstein has its own hiking and nature destinations.
Circular Hike Through the Möhne Valley
The circular hike in Allagen is 6.1 km long and passes through the Möhne Valley, across fields and through the neighbouring districts of Sichtigvor and Westendorf. The route is easy, family-friendly, culturally interesting and free of charge; it is accessible at any time. Its length and difficulty rating give you a concrete basis for planning your day. You can compare the distance directly with the Warstein hiking trails of 6.3 and 16.5 km. The easy rating and family-friendly nature provide additional criteria when choosing a route to do with children.
You can reach the circular hike on bus routes S60 or 651; parking is available at Haus Dassel on Viktor-Röper-Straße. Bus numbers and services may change, so check the current connection before travelling.
Views from the Skywalk Möhnetal
The Skywalk Möhnetal is associated with Allagen and Niederbergheim and offers views across the Möhne Valley to the Arnsberg Forest. A 15-to-20-minute walk from designated parking areas leads to the platform, which is accessible. This makes the viewpoint different from the circular hike: here, the focus is on the panorama, while the route passes through the valley, fields and districts. Check for any local access restrictions before you arrive.
Hiking and Nature Destinations in Warstein
There are 540 kilometres of marked hiking trails in the Warstein municipal area; the total length may change if routes are adjusted. Two hiking trails lead to the Lörmecke Tower, but differ in length and route. Hiking Trail 1 is 16.5 km long and passes through Bilsteintal, Paradies and Hubertusquelle to the tower, then continues to the Lörmecke Tower car park and Sedansteich. Hiking Trail 2 covers 6.3 km from the Lörmecke Tower car park via Kapellenplatz to the tower. The 35-metre-high Lörmecke Tower offers panoramic views from the Hochsauerland across the Haarstrang and the Westphalian Bay to the Teutoburg Forest.
The Bilsteintal circular hike is very easy and runs mostly along natural trails on the WaldKulTour Route Bergbau. Seven information boards along the route provide information about mining in the forest. The circular hike is recommended as a lovely walk for families with children; a visit to the forest playground in Bilsteintal is a good option afterwards. Bilsteintal is an information centre for Arnsberg Forest Nature Park and can be reached on bus route R76. Check the current bus services before travelling.
