In Seaside Resort Bansin, spa architecture, coastal scenery and cultural landmarks shape the character of this destination. When planning your trip, it is worth exploring the resort’s different facets: from preserved streetscapes and the long beachfront promenade to Lake Schloon. This can help you decide which of these features matter most when choosing your destination.

Spa Architecture and Culture in Bansin

Entire streets of elaborately restored spa architecture have been preserved in Bansin. These include the elegant beachfront promenade and BergstraĂźe, with its many villas and hotels. The concert pavilion in Bansin is the smallest and also the oldest concert stage of the three Imperial Spas. The forest church was consecrated on February 12, 1939, and is the youngest Protestant church on the island of Usedom. It also serves as a venue for events on Usedom.

The townscape also reflects its literary history: the former fire station on Bansiner WaldstraĂźe was inaugurated as a literary house for writer Hans Werner Richter in 2000. The Haus des Gastes houses the tourist information office, a gallery for art exhibitions, and a hall for concerts, readings and other cultural events. During the summer months, concerts and other events take place at the music pavilion by the main beach access on the Bansin promenade; individual program items vary.

Beachfront Promenade, Cycling Routes and Events

The 12-kilometer beachfront promenade connects Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin, and continues as far as Poland. The promenade in Bansin is also part of the Baltic Sea Cycle Route and the Berlin–Usedom Cycle Route. Those interested in the history of the Imperial Spas can explore the Imperial Spas Discovery Trail, which features 31 oak steles and a companion app. They offer insights into the history of the Imperial Spas and their famous guests.

The Bansin Pier Festival features a market along the beachfront promenade, with handcrafted goods, regional fish dishes and live concerts. The festival takes place every year in summer, but its program varies from year to year. This distinguishes the promenade’s permanent points of interest from its seasonal events: the route connects several seaside resorts, while individual concerts and festivals depend on the season.

Coast and Lake Schloon

Bansin Pier is 285 meters long. Passengers can board Adler-Schiffe vessels there for excursions to nearby seaside resorts, to the island of Rügen or to Świnoujście (Swinemünde) in Poland. Operators and routes may change, so check the current excursion options before making plans. At the northwest end of the promenade, in the direction of Ückeritz, the Bansin cliffs begin. They offer views across the Baltic Sea. The Berlin–Usedom Cycle Route passes by Langer Berg. At 54 meters above sea level, it is the highest point of the Bansin cliffs.

Lake Schloon, covering about 14 hectares, lies east of Bansin. Towards Heringsdorf, the lake extends as far as the Sackkanal. The canal runs from Lake Gothen to the Baltic Sea. Lake Schloon was formed during the last Ice Age and is three meters deep on average. It is also mentioned in literature: Theodor Fontane refers to it in his novel “Effi Briest.”
