Reimershagen: Circular Village on Reimershagener See
Accommodation in Reimershagen
Reimershagen is a circular village on the western edge of Reimershagener See. In summer, the lake invites you to swim, and the circular village is one of the municipality’s sights. This combination offers two different starting points for planning a trip: a distinctive village setting and a seasonal activity by the water. If swimming is important to you, plan your visit for summer and check the current conditions at the lake before you go.
Church and Estate History in Kirch Kogel
Kirch Kogel adds several historic buildings to the picture of the municipal area. The village church is an Early Gothic fieldstone building dating from the 15th century. The church houses a Lütkemüller organ from 1872, restored in 1995 by the Kampherm und Steinecke company from Verl. A granite baptismal font from the 13th century is also once again used there as a baptismal font. In the same church, architectural history, organ building, and the renewed use of a medieval baptismal font sit side by side.
A 19th-century estate complex also shapes Kirch Kogel. The ensemble includes, among other things, a manor house and farm buildings with a horse stable and granary. Together with the church, the complex shows another side of the area’s architectural history: the sacred building and the estate ensemble represent distinct historical themes within the municipality.
The term “fieldstone building” describes a construction method using fieldstones; “Early Gothic” places the church in its art-historical context. The architectural and furnishing details mentioned here span the 13th-century baptismal font, the 15th-century church, and the 19th-century estate complex. The organ and its restoration add 1872 and 1995 to this timeline.
Culture and Events
The granary in Kirch Kogel now serves as a cultural center for the municipality. Regular offerings include sports activities, readings, talks, cinema, a May festival, and a hobby market. Dates for individual events may vary; check the specific dates if you would like to plan your stay around an event. In addition, every year from late May to early June, Kirch Kogel hosts a gathering of young Protestants from across Germany. If you are interested in this gathering, check in advance whether visits or participation are possible.
Hiking and Cycling Routes in the Municipal Area
The E6 European long-distance path is one of the hiking routes that pass through the municipality of Reimershagen. There is a rest area on the E6 in Reimershagen. Many other hiking and cycling routes also run through the municipal area. For planning purposes, this distinguishes a specific rest stop in the village from the wider choice of routes in the municipality.
