If you’re looking for a hotel in Langenhagen, the area’s highlights can shape your plans: swimming lakes, parkland, a swimming pool and contemporary art each offer something different. You can tailor your stay to whether you want to plan activities by the water, exercise in green spaces or enjoy cultural offerings.

Swimming Lakes in Langenhagen

At 68,200 m², Silbersee is Langenhagen’s largest swimming lake. Its park-like recreation areas are used for swimming, volleyball, jogging, walking and sledding. Reed beds provide a refuge for waterfowl and other animal species.

Waldsee is Langenhagen’s second-largest swimming lake and a particularly family-oriented destination. While Silbersee stands out for its size and variety of recreational activities, Waldsee is especially geared towards families as a day-trip destination.

Parks and Trails

The approximately 30-hectare Wietzepark is a landscape park designed for recreation and ecological diversity. It is used for walking, cycling, jogging and horseback riding. On the Langenhagen side, natural and landscaped sections alternate; Hufeisensee is on the Isernhagen side of Wietzepark.

The 3.5-hectare Eichen- und Stadtpark is located in the centre of Langenhagen. Old trees and historic clinic buildings form an important cultural monument there. The park provides a habitat for rare plants and animals, and fitness equipment is available for exercise. Eichen- und Stadtpark is part of the Grüner Ring Tour I: Forst Heidehaus–Wietze.

The parks each have their own character: natural and landscaped areas alternate in Wietzepark, while the central Eichen- und Stadtpark combines historic clinic buildings, old trees and fitness equipment.

Swimming and Exercise

Wasserwelt Langenhagen offers seven sports and leisure pools, a sauna area with a large garden, and restaurant areas. Facilities include a tube slide almost 100 metres long, a 25-metre pool with six lanes and a separate diving pool. If you mainly want to swim laps, the six-lane pool is the specifically mentioned option; there is a separate pool for diving.

The multi-generational activity park has a boules area, game tables, a giant chess board and a ball court, as well as an activity trail for several generations. The facilities range from table games and boules to exercise on the trail.

Stadtpark and Culture

Stadtpark is home to the former Rohdehaus, a two-storey half-timbered building that houses the municipal archive. The water tower in Stadtpark dates from around 1905, is used by nature conservation groups and provides information about breeding kestrels.

Kunstverein Langenhagen presents changing exhibitions and holds events where different perspectives on contemporary art are discussed. These include guided tours, lectures, discussions, talks and workshops. As exhibitions and individual events change, it’s worth checking the latest dates before planning a specific visit.
