In the town center, Bad Rothenfelde combines the parkland of the spa park with the history of the saltworks industry. When choosing a hotel in town, walking and cycling routes, as well as opportunities to swim and relax, are also relevant. Specific highlights for visitors include themed gardens, the historic brine walkway, circular hiking trails and cycling routes.

Spa Park: Themed Gardens and Saltworks History

The spa park is a parkland with themed gardens on the former saltworks site in the town center. The Old and New Graduation Towers form the park’s central axis. Between the concert garden and the New Graduation Tower, the spa park is also an open-air museum of the former saltworks industry, following in the footsteps of the salt workers. These location descriptions refer to different aspects: the two graduation towers form the central axis, while the area described as an open-air museum is between the concert garden and the New Graduation Tower.

On the south side of the New Graduation Tower is the Rudi-Wernemann Rose Garden, with 6,500 rose bushes in nearly 210 varieties; plant numbers may change. The Bible Garden is in the parkland north of the New Graduation Tower and behind the Catholic church. The gardens are therefore on different sides of the New Graduation Tower. The church is an additional landmark for finding the Bible Garden.

A section of the historic brine walkway

In Bad Rothenfelde, 50 meters of the first historic brine walkway can be traversed on wooden walkways and grating without getting your feet wet. This connects the history of the saltworks with a section that visitors can walk through. Check current operating information before your visit, as operating details may change.

Cycling routes and walking trails

Four themed cycling routes run through the spa town. There are also several circular hiking trails and a section of the Ahornweg. This makes it possible to distinguish between cycling tours and options for walks or hikes when planning. Check the route in question if you are planning a specific cycling or hiking trip during your stay. The route network and trail alignments may change.

Swimming and relaxation

Visitors can swim and relax at the Sole outdoor pool and the carpesol Spa Therme. These two facilities offer a different focus from the park, brine walkway and trails. Operating details and seasons may change, so check current opening information before visiting.
