Accommodation in Schönewörde
Schönewörde offers several themes to help you plan your trip: the Ise and Riet rivers in the municipality, the Weser-Harz-Heide long-distance cycle route, and a memorial stone with local historical significance. These different highlights can help you decide what to explore during your stay.
Scenery along the Ise and Riet
The Ise and Riet rivers flow through the municipality of Schönewörde. Upstream of Schönewörde, the Ise with its tributaries nature reserve includes a section of the Ise with floating aquatic vegetation. The protected area is a glacial meltwater channel; its soils include gley, boggy mineral soil and fen peat.
Conservation objectives include alluvial forests, flowing waters with floating aquatic vegetation, and moist tall-herb communities. The conservation objectives also include the brook lamprey, spined loach, bitterling, green clubtail dragonfly and Eurasian otter. Ecologically, the area is connected to four other nature reserves, including Großes Moor bei Gifhorn and Heiliger Hain.
