Anraff: Eder floodplains, cycling routes and canoe trips
Accommodation in Anraff
The Eder floodplains and the activities associated with the village provide the clearest framework for planning a trip to Anraff. The “Eder floodplains between Bergheim and Wega” nature reserve includes Anraff in Edertal. There are also cycling routes along the banks of the Eder, as well as canoe trips and donkey hikes associated with Anraff. When choosing a place to stay, you can consider the natural landscape and specific activities as separate points of reference.
The Eder floodplains around Anraff
The nature reserve is a 70.65-hectare area of flowing water with riparian woodland and was designated in 1977. The protected area includes a seven-kilometre stretch of river and adjacent banks. The area and river length describe different scales: the figure in hectares refers to the area, while the figure in kilometres refers to the stretch along the Eder.
A campsite with seating areas was created along the stretch of river at the Anraff Bridge. This adds a specific riverside location to the information about the landscape. The nature reserve describes the larger natural area; the campsite with seating areas refers to a single spot by the bridge.
Cycling and activities on the river
The Hessian long-distance cycle routes R5 and R6 run close to the village along the banks of the Eder near Anraff. Both therefore provide a direct cycling connection to the village and the river landscape. For trip planning that includes cycling, Anraff and the course of the river are the key geographical points of reference.
Tourist activities associated with Anraff include adventure canoe trips and donkey hikes. A mini tour on the Eder ends in Anraff and is recommended for parents with children who have no paddling experience. So, alongside cycling, there are activities on the water and on foot. The mini tour is further described by its endpoint in Anraff and the explicit recommendation for parents with children who have no paddling experience.
